Chapter 74

Calvin immediately put his plan into action. He called Miranda. "Miranda, how are you? I have something to tell you"

A moment of silence followed Calvin's invitation.

He understood Miranda's hesitation. He patted his chest and promised, "Don't worry, Miranda. I'm treating you to a meal. It'll be just us. Hans won't be there."

"Alright," Miranda finally agreed.

After hanging up, Calvin shrugged. Despite his words, he couldn't prevent a coincidence from occurring that day.

Sam offered to help. "I'll inform Hans."

"Okay! It's settled, then!"

Calvin was excited. He'd be the biggest benefactor if the two reconciled during the gathering.

It was a clear, sunny day. Calvin had made a reservation at The Garden, a frequent meeting place for their group. Mentioning the name was enough for Miranda to know the location.

As soon as Miranda entered, Calvin grinned and waved wildly, even before she'd seen him.

A waiter seated Miranda. She placed her bag down and sat opposite Calvin.

"Miranda, I heard you finished your admissions exam. Congratulations! I've ordered some of your favorite dishes. Let's celebrate with a drink!"

Calvin's family might not be as wealthy as his friends', but he had the best personality. He'd also helped Miranda several times, forging their friendship.

"Thank you. I appreciate everything you've done," Miranda said.

Calvin chuckled. "Are you trying to distance yourself? There's no need to thank me like that."

He snapped his fingers. Waiters arrived with the food.

"Cal? What a coincidence!" A deep voice boomed.

Calvin looked up, his smile freezing. He saw only Sam. His plan to arrange a "coincidental" meeting between Miranda and Hans had failed.

"Hi! What a small world!" Calvin recovered, forcing a smile.

"Do you mind if I join you?" Sam asked.

Calvin, bewildered, replied, "Sure."

Sam sat down before Calvin could finish. He glanced furtively at Miranda. "What's the occasion?"

Calvin forced a smile. "I invited Miranda to celebrate her" His eyes conveyed a different message to Sam: "Where's Hans? Didn't you say you'd tell him?"

Sam smiled subtly, ignoring Calvin's signals. He raised an eyebrow and looked naturally at Miranda. "Oh? What are you celebrating?"

Miranda, recognizing the social awkwardness of silence, answered, "I just finished an exam."

Sam paused thoughtfully. "Judging by the time is it the postgraduate admission exam?"

Calvin was speechless at Sam's skillful pretense. Miranda nodded slightly.

"Which college are you applying to?" Sam asked.

"Bedford College."

"What major?"

"Bioinformatics."

Sam asked, "The interdisciplinary study involving biology, mathematics, and information science?"

Miranda, curious, met his gaze. "You're familiar with it?"

"I took it as an elective, but I wasn't good at it. I've always wondered about the differences between applied biological sciences, bioinformatics, and biology."

Miranda explained, "Applied biological sciences explores the practical application of biomolecules Biology is a branch of natural science Bioinformatics uses computers to collect and analyze biological data. Oh, that was a bit complex, wasn't it?"

The "+35 NOĻUS" at the end is unclear and has been omitted.
