Chapter 189: The Song of Secrets
Christopherโs POV:
I couldnโt shake my doubts. โBut the first half of the song was composed by me.โ How could Harmony possibly have built on my work? โBesides, Iโve never taken this track outside my office. How would anyone have had access to it?โ
Siete gave me a look as though weighing his words carefully. After a moment, he finally said, โThatโs a question only Harmony can answer.โ
Caesar chimed in. โIf thatโs the case, this is easy to resolve. We just need Harmony to clarify things personally. The misunderstanding will be cleared up, and the accusations of plagiarism will disappear.โ
I glanced at Siete, my expression serious. โItโs not going to be that simple.โ
Siete smiled faintly. โMaybe itโs not as complicated as you think. Perhaps she just wanted to help you.โ
His words left me baffled. I had no idea what he was implying.
Siete continued, โLeave this to me. Iโll find a way to convince Harmony to come forward and clarify. You should focus on handling the PR fallout. Harmonyโs fans are notoriously aggressive. Itโs critical to minimize the damage as much as possible.โ
Caesar nodded. โDonโt worry. Iโll take care of the PR side.โ
With that, Siete turned and left. After they both departed, the spacious office felt eerily quiet, with just me inside. I stared out the window, Sieteโs words still echoing in my mind. Why would Harmony write a song for me? As far as I could recall, we had no connection. And most importantly, how did Harmony even access the first half of my composition? It felt like a tangled web of mysteries I couldnโt unravel.
Hayleyโs POV:
I never imagined that casually modifying Christopherโs track would create such a huge mess for him. Now, the only way to fix this problem is for me to step forward as Harmony and clear the air. Butโฆ
I pulled out my phone, hesitating to log into Harmonyโs official account. It had been years since I last accessed it. I was afraid of seeing the messages from fans who had been waiting for me. Even more, I dreaded confronting my past, the parts of myself I had buried and didnโt want to face. The courage to deal with those lingering pieces of my history just wasnโt there.
โHayley, the schoolโs out. Why are you still here?โ Christineโs voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I quickly stashed my phone and stood up. โIโm heading out now. Letโs go together.โ
Christine nodded. Once I had packed my things, we left the classroom side by side.
โChristine, have you heard about the accusations against Christopher for plagiarism?โ I couldnโt stop myself from asking.
Christine gave me a puzzled glance. โHayley; you never mention Hubby. Why the sudden interest?โ
I kept my tone steady. โI saw it trending online and got curious.โ That explanation seemed to satisfy her, and she didnโt press further. She had heard about the scandal but didnโt seem too concerned. Her mood was surprisingly upbeat.
โHubby would never plagiarize,โ she said with complete confidence.
I turned to look at her. โYouโre that sure about him?โ
She nodded without hesitation. โHeโs my idol, my everything! When I decided to become his fan, I knew loving him meant trusting him unconditionally. And trust is the foundation of love. His character is beyond reproach, so Iโve always believed in him.โ
Her words echoed in my mind, each one striking a chord. At that moment, I found myself envying Christopher. To have someone who believes in him without a shadow of a doubt โ what a rare and precious thing. As the alpha of the Shadow Pack, Iโd been raised to be cautious and skeptical of others. Aside from my wolf, Hera, I wasnโt sure if anyone trusted me with that same blind faith.
โYouโre right. Heโs not that kind of person,โ I finally said, my mind settling on a decision.
By then, weโd reached the school gates. Christine waved at me. โSee you tomorrow, Hayley!โ
I waved back with a smile. โSee you tomorrow!โ
After we parted ways, I pulled out my phone again. This time, I didnโt hesitate. I logged into my old account, watching as countless notifications piled up โ 999+ over and over. Ignoring the flood of messages, I went straight to the editor and began typing a post at lightning speed.
โHarmony, Iโve been waiting for you,โ Sieteโs voice suddenly interrupted from behind me.
