Chapter 427: The Letter
Hayleyโs POV:
It was Henry. When I opened the door, I invited him inside. Henry gave me a disapproving look. โBoss, youโre finally back. Iโve been waiting forever.โ After saying that, he glanced at Benjamin. โBen, youโre here too.โ Benjamin gave him a simple nod. Henry studied both of us for a moment, his frown deepening.
Then he spoke again. โBoss, I canโt shake the feeling that youโre starting to give off the same energy as Ben here. Youโre starting to look like an Alpha.โ His comment caught me off guard. I quickly looked at Benjamin, wondering how he would react. But Benjamin seemed unfazed. His attention was more focused on the envelope Henry was holding.
Henry suddenly remembered and handed me the envelope. โBoss, hereโs your letter.โ Relieved, I took the envelope and thanked him. โThanks.โ โBoss, Iโve delivered everything, so I wonโt bother you any longer. Iโve got other things to take care of,โ Henry said, turning to leave. Without further delay, he was gone.
Once the door closed behind him, the silence of the room enveloped me. It was just Benjamin and me now. I carefully tucked the letter away, then walked over to the couch and hugged him, feeling a wave of sadness. โIn September, Iโm heading off to Cryving for college. Does that mean weโll be in a long-distance relationship?โ
Benjaminโs eyes tightened slightly as he kissed me gently, his voice tinged with sorrow. โI donโt want to be in a long-distance relationship with you.โ โNeither do I, but it seems like thatโs our only option, butโฆโ I looked up at him. โIโll try to finish my courses as quickly as possible, maybe even graduate early, so we wonโt have to be apart.โ
Benjamin reached up and softly rubbed my head. โDonโt push yourself too hard for me. And donโt forget, Iโve chosen you as my mate. Even if weโre apart, Iโll always think of you, love you, and stay loyal to you.โ
โIโll do the same!โ I promised him with certainty.
Heraโs voice echoed in my mind. โYou donโt need to worry. The Moon Goddess destined you two as mates. As long as youโve marked each other, youโll never truly be apart in this lifetime.โ She teased, โWhy not just mate with him now and mark him?โ
I sighed in exasperation and silenced her. Benjamin and I stayed in each otherโs arms for a long while before I reluctantly pulled away. โItโs getting late. You should get some rest.โ
He looked at me, narrowing his eyes. โSo, youโre already planning to send me away?โ
I playfully pushed him. โGo on, go! See you tomorrow!โ
โHayley, when will I get to stay and keep you company?โ Benjaminโs voice was deep and filled with longing as he gazed at me. I tried to keep my emotions in check, urging him, โJust go! Iโm really tired.โ
With a soft sigh, Benjamin finally gave in. โAlright, Iโll go. Get some good rest tonight.โ I watched him leave, his gaze still full of desire, and quickly shut the door behind him. Once I could no longer sense his presence, I leaned against the door, exhaling deeply.
Benjaminโs POV:
I stood outside, staring at the closed door with a heavy sigh. The more involved I became with her, the harder it was to control my desire to get intimate with her. But I knew it wasnโt the right time. I closed my eyes, pushing all thoughts aside. Slowly, my heart began to settle.
Once back in my room, I called my assistant. โTyrone, I heard the Cryving branch needs a manager. Can you handle it? I plan on going there next month to take over.โ Tyrone, sounding a bit surprised, stammered on the other end of the line. โAlphaโฆare you serious?โ
I spoke with determination. โYes. The Midnight Packโs management is stable now, and I donโt need to stay here all the time. There are plenty of business opportunities at the Southwell Groupโs branch. Iโll be able to manage things better if Iโm there. So, itโs settled.โ
Tyrone paused for a moment before replying respectfully. โUnderstood, Alpha. Iโll take care of it.โ
After hanging up, I gazed out the window, watching the night sky. The moon looked especially beautiful tonight. Hayley seemed like the perfect mate the Moon Goddess had gifted me. Iโd do anything for her. As long as she didnโt lie to meโฆ
Hayley's POV:
I turned over in bed, still half-asleep, and sunlight began pouring through the window, filling the room with warmth. Stretching, I sat up and got dressed before heading to the bathroom to freshen up. Just then, the doorbell rang. Without needing to check, I knew it was Benjamin. Hera urged me to hurry, and I opened the door.
Benjamin stood there, holding a breakfast tray. โWhy are you up so early?โ I asked.
โI made breakfast and brought it to you,โ he said with a smile as he stepped inside. He placed the tray down and added, โIโll take you over after we finish breakfast.โ I quickly sat down at the table, across from him, and we began to eat together. Just then, my phone dinged with a new message. I checked it and saw that Christine had sent me a picture.
