Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 510: Not Blessed by the Moon Goddess

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

After Hayley left, my wolf, Lawrence, felt her heartbreak and grew increasingly restless. I wanted to run after her, but my mother stopped me.

โ€œIf you dare to go after her today, Iโ€™ll die right here in front of you!โ€ she threatened.

โ€œMom! What are you trying to do?โ€ I froze, turning to look at her in agony.

โ€œWhat am I trying to do? Didnโ€™t you hear? Bill himself announced the annulment of your engagement to Hayley! The alliance between our two packs is over!โ€ Her tone was unwavering as she added, โ€œEven if you force yourselves to be together, youโ€™ll never receive the Moon Goddessโ€™s blessing.โ€

I exhaled deeply, my gaze filled with despair. โ€œEven without her blessing, I wonโ€™t choose anyone else. If youโ€™re so determined to see me live the rest of my life alone, then keep being stubborn.โ€

With those words, I turned and walked out. No matter how desperately she called after me, I didnโ€™t look back.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I didnโ€™t plan to end things with Benjamin so abruptly. After all, he was my destined mate. Without him, my wolf would suffer the same torment I did. But I couldnโ€™t go against my grandparents. For now, I had to compromise and focus on getting them back to the Shadow Pack safely.

We headed straight to the airport, but just before we boarded, Benjamin appeared, running toward me with urgency.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ I asked, startled. Seeing him breathless, I quickly took a bottle of water from my bag and handed it to him.

He shook his head and refused. โ€œIโ€™m coming with you.โ€

My grandfatherโ€™s expression grew complicated. He glanced at me and murmured, โ€œItโ€™s clear he still loves you.โ€

โ€œBut your mother just woke up,โ€ I said, not wanting to make things harder for him. โ€œShe needs her family by her side right now.โ€

โ€œMy dad and Henry are there with her. Thatโ€™s enough. Youโ€™re alone, and I canโ€™t let you go back by yourself,โ€ Benjamin said firmly. It was clear he had already made up his mind.

My heart began to warm, and I felt deeply moved. Just as I was about to agree, Benjaminโ€™s phone rang.

After a few seconds, his expression stiffened. He hung up with a pale face and stood frozen in silence.

โ€œWhat happened?โ€ I asked with concern.

โ€œMy momโ€ฆ she tried to take her own life,โ€ Benjamin said quietly, his voice heavy with guilt and sorrow.

I was stunned. I never thought Odessa would go to such lengths just to tear us apart. Grandpaโ€™s face grew even more conflicted upon hearing this. He stepped in front of me, blocking Benjaminโ€™s view, and said, โ€œI think you should head back and check if your motherโ€™s lost her mind.โ€

Benjamin frowned deeply, glancing at me with reluctant eyes. I knew how hard this was for him. I gave him a small nod, urging him to return.

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

After hesitating for a long moment, I crumpled my plane ticket and left the airport. When I returned to the hospital, my mother was still making a scene. My father and Henry were both struggling to stop her as she tried to throw herself against the wall.

I knew she was only putting on an act. As a Beta wolf, she wouldnโ€™t die from banging her head against a wall. Her wails echoed through the hallways, and it felt like a swarm of bees had taken up residence in my mind, buzzing so loudly that my head felt like it would explode.

After standing at the door for half a minute, I finally pushed it open and stepped inside. I stared at her with a calm, expressionless face and asked in a low voice, โ€œAre you really determined to never accept Hayley?โ€

She stopped crying, sniffed pitifully, and said with feigned innocence, โ€œYes, unless I die first!โ€

โ€œFine,โ€ I said, raising my voice suddenly. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a knife.

โ€œBen, what are you doing?โ€ Henry panicked, thinking I was about to harm our mother.

Ignoring him, I raised the knife without hesitation and plunged it into my chest. Blood gushed out instantly, staining the floor as I collapsed to my knees.
