Chapter 386

Evander entered, coffee cup in hand, and sat down quietly, watching Clalys drive away. The office was eerily silent. He remained calm and still.

Outside, a crowd had gathered, drawn by the livestream, eager to pray. Afterward, they dispersed quietly, as if sharing an unspoken understanding.

Odalys's car was departing when a Mercedes sped toward her, blocking her path. With a screech, Odalys slammed on the brakes. The Mercedes window rolled down, revealing Caspian's handsome face. Odalys shot him a cold look, her mind replaying a scene from before her time travel.

After her death, Caspian had draped a coat over her and attempted to arrange a posthumous marriage with another man.

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened. He had arranged the posthumous marriage. He might have been cruel, but he was the only one from the Bennett family who had shown her a modicum of respect. Odalys's feelings toward him were complicated.

"Let's talk," Caspian said, exiting the car, slamming the door, and striding toward her. He stood beside her car, lit a cigarette, and took a long drag.

Odalys remained silent before opening her car door and stepping out. They stood facing each other, saying nothing.

"What do you want to talk about? Should I return to the Bennett family and leave Percival so Sophia can have him? Or should I seek resources from the Stewart family to resurrect the Bennett Group?" Odalys asked, her voice icy.

Caspian listened. The cigarette trembled in his fingers; ash fell, burning a hole in his pants. He brushed it off, his gaze meeting hers, now filled with unsettling emotion.

"Is this how you see us?" Caspian asked, stunned, his throat tightening. He couldn't articulate the feeling, but it was as if something vital was slipping away. He tried to grasp it, but it eluded him, leaving him frustrated.

"Otherwise, what?" Odalys laughed softly, her eyes sarcastic. She stepped forward, facing him directly. "When you brought me back to the Bennett family, you didn't treat me like family, did you? You knew Percival was dying, so you rushed me back to marry me off—or even bury me with her!"

She continued, "I endured six months of exploitation by the Bennett Group, while you constantly undermined my self-esteem. In the end, you forced me to marry her! If I'd refused, would you have ruined me? Used compromising photos to control me? You wanted me to marry, no matter what. If I did, the Bennett family would rise again. If I didn't, I'd still be your pawn!"

With each question, Caspian's face darkened. He opened his mouth, but no words came. What she said was true, yet unbearable. This wasn't how it was supposed to be. She was his sister. He'd considered marrying her to Sophia, but he never wanted her to die. Yet his actions had left her in a pain deeper than death itself.

"What do you want to talk about? Giving Sophia a chance, or using the Stewart family's resources to revive the Bennett family?" Odalys continued, her voice sharp.

Caspian, panicked, discarded his cigarette, but missed the trash can. Odalys found his flustered state oddly liberating.

"Don't pretend to be the older brother, Caspian," she began. "What do you think you are, blocking my way and forcing me to talk? The injuries you suffered? They're your own fault."

Caspian recalled the hospital incident: Percival blocking him in the corridor, breaking his leg, and setting dogs on him. Over 300 stitches, no anesthetic. The memory sent chills down his spine.

Caspian's lips moved, but he spoke no words. Odalys turned, got back in her car, drove around him, and left.

Caspian stood frozen, the exhaust fumes stinging his face. He stood dazed and disheveled. "Dammit! What the hell did I do?" He angrily kicked a trash can. Odalys's accusations had humiliated him, filling him with panic. The Bennett family was a mess, and he saw no escape.

Henry's rushed marriage to Edie, his parents' impending divorce, Sophia's hospital escapade—the Bennett family was a joke. When had it become this way? He felt lost, helpless. He was bound to the family, no matter what.

Then, he realized something. Odalys severing ties was a good thing. He'd once thought she wasn't worthy of the Bennett family, but now he saw that she probably didn't care. In the end, it wasn't Odalys who was the joke; it was the Bennett family.

Caspian stumbled, crashed against a wall, and slid to the floor. "Am I going to die with the Bennett family? No, it shouldn't be like this," he muttered.

He looked up and saw Atlas silently watching him. Caspian's lips moved, but no words came.

"It looks like Odalys wants nothing to do with us Do you think she'll spare us after what she's done to the Bennett family?" Atlas said coldly. He'd watched the livestream; Sophia's actions had terrified him.

He recalled last night, their father protecting Sophia, and this morning's incident in the study. Most shocking was learning that Sophia's first lover had been Windsor, and that they'd slept together the night before Windsor went abroad. The revelations shattered his world.

"Sophia seduced Dad, causing our parents' breakup. Henry's marrying Edie, who's been arrested. Sophia's an accomplice," Atlas said calmly and rationally.

Chapter 386 (continued)

"The Bennett family is about to fall into the abyss. Odalys won't help us, and if we don't act, we're finished," Atlas continued.

Caspian stared at his naive younger brother, now so rational. Everything had changed. People had changed.

"What do you want to do?" Caspian asked.
