Chapter 494
Odalys had always perceived the Bennett family as superior and untouchable, yet here they were, heads bowed in desperation.
Caspian spoke first. "We suspect something is wrong with Sophia. Our parents abandoned her, leaving her to freeze to death. We found it strange—why would they cast aside their biological daughter to adopt someone unrelated?"
He continued, "They spoiled her, especially Dad. Looking back, Dad's actions toward Sophia three years ago were highly suspicious."
He added, "Putting that aside, Sophia was still a Bennet at the time. Why did she possess a love spell? Did she use it on us? And how did she know how to control people with it?"
"I heard she used a love spell to manipulate the Tillery family, nearly killing someone," Odalys interjected. "You saved them, Caspian."
Odalys listened with a faint smile, observing them with indifference. Noticing her silence, Henry continued. "We suspect Mom and Dad were brainwashed or tricked. Maybe Sophia controlled them."
Odalys found this amusing. She stepped back, settled into a chair, and accepted a cup of coffee from Dorian, who had appeared with a tray.
"We think Sophia used a talisman to control our minds," Henry continued, "That might explain why we treated you so terribly. We weren't ourselves!"
Odalys laughed, setting down her cup. "What? Now you blame a love spell for your own actions?" Her voice, cold as ice, cut through them. Disappointment etched her face as she glared at them. She couldn't believe they blamed a love spell instead of accepting responsibility for their immoral behavior. Their constant shifting of blame disgusted her.
"Are you Bennets all cowards? You exploited and bullied me to win over Sophia, didn't you?" Odalys asked, rising slowly. She approached Caspian and Henry, scrutinizing them. "Did you intentionally open the door, pretending not to know she was showering, and then initiate inappropriate physical contact?"
She continued, "Or was it when you invited her to a hotel under the guise of meeting sponsors, only to take advantage of her when she was drunk?"
Her words cut like knives, stripping away their veneer of dignity. Their faces twisted, their lips trembling.
Odalys continued, "Under the guise of love, you repeatedly took advantage of her. Do you think you're innocent because you didn't sleep with her? Do you think ambiguity absolves you? You disgust me! Even if she used a love spell, even if your parents had ulterior motives, you deserved it."
She added, "And now you have the audacity to beg for my help, harassing me with calls and showing up at my workplace? What makes you think you're worth my time?"
Chapter 191
"You're filthy, through and through. The moment you forced me into that sham marriage, any ties between us were severed," she said coldly. "It doesn't matter if you're drowning in bad luck or lying to me. I will never help you. Caspian, did you think I saved you out of some lingering familial bond? Don't flatter yourself."
Her words pierced their hearts, leaving them speechless. Henry, CEO of the Bennett Group, felt humiliated. Fury burned within him.
"Why would you save others for free but not us? We're your brothers," Caspian said, on the verge of breaking down. He knew Odalys was their only hope.
"I told you, you don't deserve it," Odalys said coldly.
Henry gasped. "But I'm Percival's stepfather now! I married Edith. By that logic, I'm your father-in-law!"
Odalys was stunned by his shamelessness.
"Henry, you've truly outdone yourself. You sold yourself out to cling to the Simpson family and still dare to leverage a connection to the Stewart family?" Odalys laughed in disbelief.
Evander, from Map Entertainment, entered. His presence commanded respect. His gaze made Henry's scalp tingle; his earlier arrogance vanished, replaced by fear.
"Trying to become my grandson's stepfather? Funny, I don't recall the Stewart family having any ties to you," Evander said, his voice laced with anger.
Overwhelmed, Henry stepped back. Evander continued, "Do you think my family is an easy target? Or that Odalys is someone you can bully? The Bennett family doesn't deserve my granddaughter-in-law's help. Do you believe that crawling into Edith's bed gives you the right to threaten the Stewart family? Your sordid affairs are none of our concern."
Evander's words cut Henry deeply. He dared not retort.
"As for why your parents adopted Sophia, that's your family's mess. You should ask your father instead of threatening Odalys."
"A bunch of shameless fools dare to make a scene here?" Evander roared. His fury was palpable.
Every word shamed Henry. No one had ever dared to humiliate him so openly. He had had an affair with Edith, and he had married her to gain favor with the Stewarts. His plan had backfired spectacularly; Edith was now intent on destroying him.
