Chapter 125
โI donโt have a daughter like her!โ Zelda wiped her face, her voice bursting with anger. โFrom now on, Lisette, youโre my only daughter. Iโll never acknowledge her again!โ
There was a glint of something sharp in her eyes, a finality that couldnโt be mistaken.
She was determined to sever all ties with Calliope. She had doubts from the beginning about having this daughter, and after all these years, Calliope had only let her down.
This time, Zeldaโs fury was beyond measure. She made up her mind to announce at the birthday party that the Jewell family would cut off all relations with Calliope.
Zelda wanted the whole world to know she didnโt have such a daughter. Lisette was more than enough for her.
At Kirin Fondue.
Calliope looked at Silas, surprised by his sudden appearance. She wondered how he even knew she was there. But then again, with his influence in Capitalton, there wasnโt much someone like Silas couldnโt find out.
Silas looked at her intently, his gaze a mix of warmth and concern. He ruffled her hair, a gesture filled with affection and worry. โWhy did they come to see you?โ
He had planned to surprise her but hadnโt expected to witness such a scene. Zelda and Valerian showing up at the diner to make a scene was beyond infuriating.
Calliope explained briefly, her eyes meeting Silasโs.
Zeldaโs harsh words echoed in her mindโa mother and a brother condemning her, saying heโd regret marrying her. Truth be told, her reputation wasnโt great around here.
Yet, Silas stood by her.
โDid you believe what they said?โ Calliope asked, her eyes searching his flawless face.
โWhy would I?โ Silas replied firmly. โI know exactly who you are, better than anyone else. Whether your reputation is good or bad, it doesnโt matter. Youโre Mrs. Myers, my wife, my woman.โ
โButโฆ even my mother says Iโm no good. Doesnโt it ever make you doubt or waver?โ Calliopeโs eyes glistened like stars in a dark sky.
โThatโs because sheโs not deserving,โ Silas said softly. โAre you upset?โ
Calliope shook her head. She hadnโt been, but how Silas treated her, compared to how they did, stirred something inside her.
โEven if the whole world turns its back on you, Iโll still be here.โ Silas gently brushed her cheek. โYouโre the best, the most beautiful and extraordinary to me. No one compares.โ
โReally?โ Calliope looked into his deep eyes, feeling like she was gazing into an abyss.
He was so sincere, so earnest, it was hard not to believe him.
โReally,โ Silas affirmed. โMy wife is the most amazing person in the world.โ
Calliopeโs lips curled into a smile. Whether his words were true or not, she chose to believe them.
โYou havenโt told me why you came looking for me.โ
โI wanted to give you a present,โ Silas said with a hint of mystery. โItโs here now. Want to see it?โ
โWhat kind of present?โ Calliope asked, intrigued by Silasโs surprise visit to the diner.
โYouโll see. Do you have some time now?โ Silas inquired, his eyes twinkling.
Chapter 126
โItโs not here?โ Calliope was curious about what Silas had in store for her.
