Chapter 266

Calliope flashed a confident smile at Ronin. โ€œRonin, no pressure. Just play like you usually do, okay?โ€

โ€œOkay, Iโ€™ll just play casually then,โ€ Ronin chuckled.

The two quickly settled into their chess game, pieces moving back and forth between them.

Calliopeโ€™s moves were swift and highly skilled. Those in the know watched with astonishment.

โ€œOh, my goodness, thatโ€™s an impressive move!โ€

โ€œShe does know how to play chess!โ€

โ€œHowโ€™s she doing? Is she good?โ€

โ€œYou canโ€™t predict her next move, but sheโ€™s definitely got Ronin on his toes!โ€

โ€œReally? Is Calliope that good?โ€

โ€œFrom what I can tell, sheโ€™s incredibly skilled. Iโ€™m genuinely impressed.โ€

โ€œKeep watching! There are some moves I canโ€™t quite grasp!โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve figured it out. I can only say Calliope is brilliant. Roninโ€™s in a tough spot!โ€

The onlookers were buzzing with excitement.

Calliope, however, remained calm, trading moves with Ronin seamlessly.

Roninโ€™s reactions werenโ€™t as quick as Calliopeโ€™s. He took his time, carefully considering each move, but soon realized he might be in trouble.

โ€œLooks like Iโ€™m about to lose,โ€ Ronin said with a wry smile. โ€œCallie, youโ€™ve always got a trick up your sleeve!โ€

โ€œNah, itโ€™s a draw,โ€ Calliope replied with a smile. โ€œRonin, youโ€™re too good to lose!โ€

The game soon came to an end in a draw.

Calliope smiled at Ronin. โ€œYou still got it, Ronin!โ€

Ronin chuckled, shaking his head. โ€œYou young lady, youโ€™re still good at sweet-talking. You let me off easy, didnโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œShe did let him off. She managed to control the game to a draw without breaking a sweat. Thatโ€™s impressive!โ€

โ€œMore impressive than winning, honestly. To pull off a draw means Calliope has anticipated Roninโ€™s every move!โ€

โ€œYeah, sheโ€™s amazing!โ€

Applause broke out among the spectators.

Yara, who knew a bit about chess, realized Calliope could have won. Instead, she achieved something even more remarkable by securing a draw, allowing Ronin to save face.

Yara looked at Calliope with a hint of surprise. โ€œYouโ€™ve got some serious skills.โ€

โ€œIndeed,โ€ Ronin agreed, smiling at Yara. โ€œI donโ€™t know why you wanted to win, but I definitely lost.โ€

โ€œCallie is something else,โ€ Ronin continued. โ€œYara, youโ€™re brilliant too. But youโ€™d find it challenging to outplay Callie.โ€

Yara wasnโ€™t offended. She smiled and said, โ€œI know. Itโ€™s all in good fun.โ€

Ronin nodded. โ€œSure, just for fun. Thereโ€™s no need to get serious. Sheโ€™s better as a friend than a foe.โ€

Yara nodded. โ€œThanks for the advice, Ronin. I understand.โ€

โ€œGood to hear.โ€

After Ronin left, Calliope turned to Yara and asked, โ€œSo, what else do you have in mind for me?โ€

โ€œTired yet? How about a game of cards?โ€ Yara suggested with a playful smirk. โ€œIโ€™ve got a nice big game room. We could round up a few people and have a few rounds?โ€
