Chapter 366
There was a time when their disdain would leave her feeling crushed, yearning for their approval, but those days were long gone.
Now, nothing this family did could stir any emotion in her.
As Franco nodded, he glanced back at the Jewell family, his gaze lingering on them. โYouโre treating a piece of trash like itโs treasure, while tossing away the seal gem. One day, youโll regret it.โ
With that, the door closed behind him.
Monty and the others eyed Calliope, still harboring a sliver of disbelief.
โCallie, Iโm not sure how you convinced Franco to play along, but thatโs beside the point. Weโre inviting you to dinner because, frankly, we need your help to save the company, Horatioโs legs, and sort things out with Lisette. After all, youโve got the same blood running through your veins as the rest of us, the Jewell family. Canโt you lend a hand? If word gets out that you refused, it wonโt look good!โ
Calliope smirked, โAre you trying to guilt-trip me?โ
Monty quickly replied, โThatโs not what I meant!โ
Calliope chuckled softly. โThen what did you mean? If I donโt help, whatโs your plan?โ
Zelda, her face darkened with frustration, chimed in, โCalliope, donโt be so unreasonable. Weโve already humbled ourselves to ask for your help. Youโve eaten such an expensive meal, and youโre seriously not going to help? How can you be so thick-skinned?โ
โYou think one meal is enough to buy me?โ Calliope glanced at Zelda. โMillion, letโs return this meal to her.โ
Zelda was speechless, her eyes widened in shock.
Million had already started pretending to gag.
Valerianโs lips twitched, looking like he wished they wouldnโt take things so far.
They all knew they wouldnโt actually regurgitate their meal; it would be disgusting.
โCrazy!โ Zelda was too flustered to retort.
Calliope shrugged it off with a light laugh. โIโve already laid out my terms. If you want my help, hand over the company for me to manage and give me at least half the shares. Otherwise, no deal.โ
With that, Calliope stood up.
โCallie, your demand is over the top. Youโve never contributed to the company!โ Monty protested, his brows furrowed. โCanโt you compromise a little? Plus, helping Horatio shouldnโt be a transactional thing, heโs your brother!โ
โSorry, thatโs not the case anymore. You keep forgetting that Iโve severed ties with the Jewell family.โ Calliopeโs tone was calm but firm.
Valerian, losing his temper, suddenly hurled a bowl at Calliope.
She reacted swiftly, catching the bowl effortlessly. She cast a cool glance at Valerian, โValerian, are you trying to commit murder?โ
โYes, Iโm trying to smash you to bits!โ Valerian fumed, โIโve had enough of you! Arenโt you done yet?โ
โHeh,โ Calliope let out a cold laugh. โI donโt recall asking you to endure anything. Try smashing me, see if youโve got what it takes.โ
Valerianโs face flushed with frustration, knowing full well he couldnโt best Calliope.
Calliope placed the bowl back on the table and turned to leave with Million in tow.
Monty and the others, both angry and anxious, hurried after her.
As she stepped out, the waitstaff in the hallway paused, respectfully greeting her as โBoss.โ
Franco reappeared from somewhere, handing Calliope a few documents to sign.
After signing, she returned the papers to Franco and whispered a few words to him, patting his shoulder lightly, like a leader giving instructions to a team member.
