Chapter 428
After Verity finished speaking, she offered Calliope a few comforting words.
Meanwhile, the big screen in the grand hall kept looping the footage of Yvette pulling Calliope into the stairwell, having that heated conversation, and then tumbling down the stairs herself. In the video, it was clear Calliope hadnโt even touched Yvette.
Everyone could see it: Yvette had orchestrated the whole scene. In her twisted scheme to frame Calliope, Yvette had risked everything, including the life of her unborn child.
Moreover, from their conversation, it was apparent that the childโs viability was questionable; the doctors had advised a termination. Yet, she chose to keep the pregnancy, solely to set up Calliope.
The guests around were buzzing with whispers.
โThat woman is downright wicked!โ
โCan you believe Gideon married someone like her? Giving up Calliope for that woman is just ridiculous!โ
โCompletely insane!โ
โSee, thatโs why I always say, marry someone from your own league! They thought they could use this to blackmail the Baker family, what a joke!โ
โYvette thinks sheโs so clever, but she has noโฆโ
โMs. Jewell sure lives up to her name. She must have seen this coming and prepared the footage in advance, right?โ
โExactly! Without this, sheโd have been framed for sure!โ
The guestsโ gazes toward Calliope changed, now filled with admiration.
Just imagine, if something like this happened to you, how hard it would be to clear your name. Everyone thought Calliope was incredibly shrewd. She had outmaneuvered Yvette at every turn.
Yvette never anticipated Calliope would have such irrefutable evidence, already playing on the ballroomโs big screen for everyone to see; not just the guests, but even some of the serving staff were aware of the situation.
When the Jansen family arrived, they were greeted by this scene, Yvette included.
Yvette looked disheveled, her dress stained with blood, yet her family held her upright, seemingly oblivious to the idea of taking her to a hospital.
No one even bothered to offer her something to cover herself with.
It wasnโt until she entered the ballroom that she realized why Calliope had been so calm and why none of the guests showed her any sympathy.
Calliope had recorded everything!
Not only did she record it, but she also had it playing on the ballroomโs screen, looping the entire setup Yvette had orchestrated!
Yvetteโs face turned a shade of furious green. She had planned meticulously to take Calliope down in one stroke. But here she was, her plan backfired spectacularly.
Now fully exposed, she wondered how the Baker family would perceive her. She instinctively glanced over at Gideon and Fleur.
Fleur, initially harboring resentment towards Calliope โ believing that regardless of the circumstances, Calliope should have never harmed her precious grandchild โ stood frozen, watching the footage.
Then she turned to look at Yvette. Never had she felt such frustration. Already dissatisfied with Yvette, and now, on what should have been a joyous wedding day, this fiasco erupted, all because of Yvetteโs own machinations.
Calliope had clearly tried to talk sense into her multiple times, but Yvette refused to listen.
โYvette, you fool!โ Fleur exclaimed, exasperated.
