Chapter 1010

That conversationโ€ฆ. Lena shuddered. Yeah, she had definitely come back too early. It was best to leave now before she ruined the mood for those two inside.

Not wanting to hear any more, she quickly turned to leave, only to smack her leg against a nearby chair. The pain was real, but worse was the noise it made, drawing attention to her presence.

Inside the room, Haydenโ€”already feeling awkward from Keiraโ€™s teasingโ€”froze. The sound from outside made him even more uncomfortable.

Keira couldnโ€™t hold back her laughter. The moment Keira burst out laughing, however, pain shot through her lower abdomen. โ€œAhโ€”ow!โ€ Keira gasped.

Hayden immediately panicked. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Where does it hurt?โ€

Hearing her cry, Lena rushed in as well. โ€œWhat happened?โ€

โ€œI laughed too hard and pulled my stitches,โ€ Keira explained, gripping Haydenโ€™s hand tightly.

Lena glared at Keira. โ€œYouโ€™re a mother now, and yet youโ€™re still acting like a child. Do you have any idea what condition youโ€™re in?โ€

She meant more than one thing, and they both knew it. Their eyes met, and they couldnโ€™t help but snicker at the inside joke.

Hayden, however, was still worried about his wife. Though he was clearly embarrassed, his concern outweighed his discomfort. He turned to Lena, โ€œIs she okay? Does she need a check-up?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll take a look,โ€ Lena said, grabbing a pair of disposable gloves from the medical cart.

This time, Hayden didnโ€™t leave. But Lena reminded him, โ€œPresident Hart, arenโ€™t you going to step outside?โ€

He glanced at Keira. He was obviously reluctant, but she was still too embarrassed.

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you go pour out the water?โ€ Keira suggested, avoiding his gaze. โ€œBesides, I donโ€™t think I need a check-up. I feel fine.โ€

โ€œBetter safe than sorry,โ€ Hayden said firmly. But he still picked up the basin of used water and stepped out.

Once he was gone, Lena examined Keira. โ€œNo issues, but you need to be more careful.โ€ Then, she leaned in closer.

โ€œYouโ€™re pretty wild, huh?โ€ she teased in a hushed voice. โ€œNot even three hours after giving birth, and youโ€™re already flirting with your man? Whatโ€™s wrong, is he too well-behaved for you, or do you just have some needs?โ€

Keira flushed at her words but refused to back down. โ€œThis is called marital bonding, okay? Anyway, now that Iโ€™ve given birth, a lot of privileges can go back to normal,โ€ Keira said boldly.

Lena shot her a look. โ€œNot for another three months.โ€

Keira frowned dramatically. โ€œThat long?โ€

โ€œWhat, canโ€™t wait any more? You went twenty-something years without a man and never acted this desperate before,โ€ Lena mocked.

โ€œThatโ€™s because Iโ€™d never had a taste of it. Once you try, you realize how good it is,โ€ Keira shot back, shamelessly.

Lena finished tidying Keira up and tossed her gloves into the medical waste bin, mumbling, โ€œI donโ€™t see whatโ€™s so great about it.โ€

She had been there, done thatโ€”but ever since breaking up with Nate, she had pretty much stayed single. Keira nudged her white coat with her toe. โ€œThatโ€™s because youโ€™ve been out of practice for too long.โ€

She immediately took a step back. โ€œDonโ€™t touch me. Iโ€™m sterile.โ€

Keira smirked. โ€œUncle Aaron seems really concerned about you.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s only because your husband gave him an assignment. Honestly, do we owe you two something? Spending New Yearโ€™s Eve here with you and dealing with your wild imagination?โ€ Lena scoffed, though she was already lifting Keiraโ€™s baby into her arms as she spoke.

To be honest, ever since Keiraโ€™s daughter was born, Lena had held her more than she had. She had only carried her for a few minutes before Hayden took over, worrying that she would get tired.
