Chapter 1010
That conversationโฆ. Lena shuddered. Yeah, she had definitely come back too early. It was best to leave now before she ruined the mood for those two inside.
Not wanting to hear any more, she quickly turned to leave, only to smack her leg against a nearby chair. The pain was real, but worse was the noise it made, drawing attention to her presence.
Inside the room, Haydenโalready feeling awkward from Keiraโs teasingโfroze. The sound from outside made him even more uncomfortable.
Keira couldnโt hold back her laughter. The moment Keira burst out laughing, however, pain shot through her lower abdomen. โAhโow!โ Keira gasped.
Hayden immediately panicked. โWhatโs wrong? Where does it hurt?โ
Hearing her cry, Lena rushed in as well. โWhat happened?โ
โI laughed too hard and pulled my stitches,โ Keira explained, gripping Haydenโs hand tightly.
Lena glared at Keira. โYouโre a mother now, and yet youโre still acting like a child. Do you have any idea what condition youโre in?โ
She meant more than one thing, and they both knew it. Their eyes met, and they couldnโt help but snicker at the inside joke.
Hayden, however, was still worried about his wife. Though he was clearly embarrassed, his concern outweighed his discomfort. He turned to Lena, โIs she okay? Does she need a check-up?โ
โIโll take a look,โ Lena said, grabbing a pair of disposable gloves from the medical cart.
This time, Hayden didnโt leave. But Lena reminded him, โPresident Hart, arenโt you going to step outside?โ
He glanced at Keira. He was obviously reluctant, but she was still too embarrassed.
โWhy donโt you go pour out the water?โ Keira suggested, avoiding his gaze. โBesides, I donโt think I need a check-up. I feel fine.โ
โBetter safe than sorry,โ Hayden said firmly. But he still picked up the basin of used water and stepped out.
Once he was gone, Lena examined Keira. โNo issues, but you need to be more careful.โ Then, she leaned in closer.
โYouโre pretty wild, huh?โ she teased in a hushed voice. โNot even three hours after giving birth, and youโre already flirting with your man? Whatโs wrong, is he too well-behaved for you, or do you just have some needs?โ
Keira flushed at her words but refused to back down. โThis is called marital bonding, okay? Anyway, now that Iโve given birth, a lot of privileges can go back to normal,โ Keira said boldly.
Lena shot her a look. โNot for another three months.โ
Keira frowned dramatically. โThat long?โ
โWhat, canโt wait any more? You went twenty-something years without a man and never acted this desperate before,โ Lena mocked.
โThatโs because Iโd never had a taste of it. Once you try, you realize how good it is,โ Keira shot back, shamelessly.
Lena finished tidying Keira up and tossed her gloves into the medical waste bin, mumbling, โI donโt see whatโs so great about it.โ
She had been there, done thatโbut ever since breaking up with Nate, she had pretty much stayed single. Keira nudged her white coat with her toe. โThatโs because youโve been out of practice for too long.โ
She immediately took a step back. โDonโt touch me. Iโm sterile.โ
Keira smirked. โUncle Aaron seems really concerned about you.โ
โThatโs only because your husband gave him an assignment. Honestly, do we owe you two something? Spending New Yearโs Eve here with you and dealing with your wild imagination?โ Lena scoffed, though she was already lifting Keiraโs baby into her arms as she spoke.
To be honest, ever since Keiraโs daughter was born, Lena had held her more than she had. She had only carried her for a few minutes before Hayden took over, worrying that she would get tired.
