Chapter 710

They say fixing relationships is better than breaking them, but here I was, playing the villain. Iโ€™d had the same conversation with Wade so many times Iโ€™d lost count. If he couldnโ€™t figure out his feelings for Yuna by now, it was clearโ€”he didnโ€™t love her. Dragging this out would only hurt her more. It was better to push him to let her go.

โ€œWhat are you saying? That I should leave Yuna?โ€ Wade asked, confusion written all over his face.

I paused, choosing my words carefully. โ€œThatโ€™s exactly what Iโ€™m saying. Step back, give yourself space. Then youโ€™ll know who you miss and who you actually love.โ€

Wadeโ€™s eyes drifted to Yuna, standing not far away. โ€œSheโ€ฆ relies on me a lot. If I donโ€™t message her, or if I text her less, she overthinks things.โ€

Exactly. A girl in love doesnโ€™t just want attentionโ€”she craves being part of someoneโ€™s life completely.

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s why you have to do this,โ€ I said bluntly.

Wade lowered his head, silent. I leaned in. โ€œSo, what is it? Are you unwilling to let her go, or have you just used to her being in your life?โ€

โ€œCan you give me some time to think?โ€ he asked, the same excuse he always gave.

โ€œHow long?โ€ I pressed, refusing to let him stall.

โ€œAs soon as possible,โ€ he muttered.

I folded my arms, not letting him off the hook. โ€œOne week. Thatโ€™s all you get. In one week, you decide. If you like her, tell her. Be upfront and make it official. If she gets into KRA, stand by her as her boyfriend and support her. But if you donโ€™t love her, be honest and let her go.โ€

Wade nodded. โ€œI probably wonโ€™t need that long.โ€

โ€œGood,โ€ I said. The sooner he decided, the betterโ€”for Yunaโ€™s sake.

By the time Xander joined us, Wade and I had been talking for a while. Xander glanced my way and said, โ€œIf thereโ€™s nothing else, we can head out now.โ€

โ€œHayden, donโ€™t leave yet!โ€ Yuna cut in, her voice bright. โ€œSince Wadeโ€™s here too, letโ€™s all have a meal together.โ€ She shot me a meaningful look, and I knew exactly what she was doingโ€”trying to get Wade and Xander to connect.

She wasnโ€™t subtle. She wanted Wade in her future, and it showed.

But from the way she spoke, it was clear Xander had passed her test completely. So there it wasโ€”Xander was Hayden. No more doubt.

โ€œWeโ€™ll pass. We have things to do,โ€ Xander said.

That tone? Pure Hayden. He could act indifferent in front of me, but when it came to Yuna, his real feelings slipped through. He couldnโ€™t hide the care he felt for the girl heโ€™d practically raised.

I wasnโ€™t jealous of their bond, but his refusal to admit who he was still left a bitter taste in my mouth.

โ€œWhy not? Let Wade treat us,โ€ I teased, watching for Xanderโ€™s reaction.

If Wade had made up his mind, this might be the last meal we all shared.

Wade nodded easily. โ€œYunaโ€™s been talking about you two for ages. Now that weโ€™re all here, we should enjoy a meal together.โ€

โ€œYeah, Hayden, just this once!โ€ Yuna chimed in, clinging to Xanderโ€™s arm and pouting. With three of us on board, Xander didnโ€™t have much choice. He reluctantly agreed.

We picked a nearby restaurant. Once we arrived, Yuna and Wade went to place the order, leaving Xander and me alone in the private dining room.

โ€œLooks like I owe you a bonus,โ€ I said, half-playful, half-serious. โ€œYou managed to fool Yuna completelyโ€”she doesnโ€™t suspect a thing.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Xander replied coolly, his face unreadable.

His composure was maddening.
