Chapter 913
Keira hung up the phone, chuckling to herself. When Hayden returned, he found her smiling.
โWhatโs got you in such a good mood?โ he asked, glancing at the TV, which was off, and then at her phone, which she wasnโt using.
Keira reached for the durian he had bought her. Lately, sheโd been craving it like an addict. No idea whyโit was as if she couldnโt get enough of it.
โIโll wash my hands and cut it for you,โ Hayden said, stopping her from handling it. โYou just need to eat.โ
He pulled her along to wash her hands as well. Hayden stood behind her at the sink, his arms wrapping around her protectively. As she washed, she recounted the story about Lena.
โThe car accident on the news is probably the same one,โ he commented. โBut it only mentioned the White family.โ
โAaron has always kept a low profile,โ Keira replied, but as she turned her head, her words were cut off. Her lips brushed against his.
It was completely unintentional, yet somehow, it was a perfect hit. Turns out, those accidental kisses in TV dramas werenโt entirely made upโthey were possible.
Even though Hayden and Keira had settled into a comfortable, long-term rhythm as a couple, that unexpected touch still made her heart race.
Hayden froze for a moment, clearly caught off guard. But before she could pull away, his lips chased after hers, capturing them in a soft, lingering kiss.
Gentle and slowโฆ
Lately, Keira had been avoiding his touch altogether, afraid heโd lose control. She hadnโt even let him kiss her, so now, she instinctively started to dodge.
The scene felt like something out of a romance novel, where a shy girl tentatively faced the advances of her crushโboth yearning and hesitant.
But Hayden wasnโt in any rush. He continued to pursue her patiently, until finally, he held her firmly and deepened the kiss, full of satisfaction.
Breathing heavily, he leaned his forehead against hers. His disheveled appearance made her laugh softly. โYouโre only torturing yourself.โ
โMm, and Iโd gladly endure it,โ he replied before stealing one more kiss. Then he led her back to the living room and opened the durian for her.
While she ate, Hayden fetched her coat. โThe windโs strong outside. Wear something warm.โ
โNo need. I donโt even feel the cold,โ Keira said. Maybe it was because of the pregnancy, but she hadnโt felt cold this winter.
The thought reminded her of last winter, back when they were still living in her old, unrenovated house. Every night, sheโd cling to Hayden like a human heater.
Time flewโitโd already been a year. Back then, it was just the two of them, and now there were three.
Hayden waved his hand in front of her face. โWhat are you daydreaming about?โ
โThinking about us last year around this time,โ Keira said, glancing outside. โThe skyโs overcast. Do you think itโll snow?โ
โYou want to see the snow?โ Hayden followed her gaze.
โMm, I want to watch the snow with you,โ Keira said, offering him a piece of durian. His nose wrinkled as he leaned away.
Hayden disliked the smell, but he still bought it for her and sat beside her as she ate. Perhaps that was what love meant, Keira thought.
After helping her into her coat, he drove them out. While he was at the wheel, Keira browsed news about the car accident and scrolled through videos on her phone.
โI donโt think I can deliver Lenaโs suitcase after all,โ Hayden said suddenly.
โHuh?โ Keira looked up at him, confused.
His eyes were fixed on the rearview mirror. Following his gaze, she noticed a black car trailing them, keeping a steady distance.
Keiraโs heart skipped a beat. โIs someone following us?โ
โMm. Theyโve been tailing us since we left home,โ Hayden replied, his jaw tightening. A chilling aura seemed to envelop him.
