Chapter 981 +25 BONUS

โ€œThen even fate is helping you two,โ€ Keira looked at her seriously. โ€œHave you thought it through? Do you actually like him? Do you want to be with him? Or are you just uncomfortable when you see him being good to another womanโ€”maybe even jealous?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Lena answered without hesitation.

Keira chuckled. โ€œThat means yes.โ€

โ€œI said no! Are you losing your hearing along with being pregnant?โ€ Lena denied it firmly.

โ€œYouโ€™re trying too hard to deny it, which means youโ€™re lying,โ€ Keira exposed her outright.

There was no need for Lena to hide things from her. She stared at Keira for a few seconds before sighing. โ€œYouโ€™re just so smart, arenโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œLena, if you really like him, canโ€™t you be brave just this once?โ€ Keira encouraged her.

After Hayden had talked some sense into her that day, she realized that the biggest issue between Lena and Aaron wasnโ€™t whether their parents could accept them being togetherโ€”it was whether she was willing to take that step.

And Keira had to admit, Aaron was incredibly patient with her. He was actually willing to wait for her to wake up and realize her feelings.

โ€œBut he has a girlfriend now. Whatโ€™s the point of being brave? Iโ€™m not about to become the third party and ruin someone elseโ€™s relationship,โ€ Lena scoffed before downing the rest of her coffee in one go.

โ€œHey, thatโ€™s coffee, not alcohol,โ€ Keira reminded her with a laugh.

She tilted her head back, looking at the sky above Keiraโ€™s little courtyard. After a brief silence, she muttered, โ€œItโ€™s getting cold. Itโ€™s going to snow soon. How are you going to manage here?โ€

Her sudden topic shift was ridiculous.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry about it. Youโ€™ll find out soon enough.โ€

Aaron had already arranged for workers to come and make adjustments that night. Since this place was pretty secluded, they didnโ€™t have to worry about disturbing the neighbors with late-night construction.

โ€œAaron still likes you,โ€ Keira reminded her gently, not wanting to push too hard.

Lena scoffed. โ€œIf he likes me, then why does he have a girlfriend? What a scumbag!โ€

โ€œAre you serious? You rejected him, so now heโ€™s not allowed to move on and date someone else?โ€ Keira defended Aaron.

Lena suddenly turned to Keira, narrowing her eyes. โ€œRea, why do I get the feeling youโ€™re biased toward Aaron these days? Did he bribe you or something?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m just being fair,โ€ Keira replied, tapping her chest lightly. โ€œSearch your heart and tell me what exactly did he do wrong?โ€

Lena opened her mouth as if to argue, but before she could say anything, someone entered the courtyard.

โ€œKeira, Dr. Lane,โ€ Yuna greeted them somewhat awkwardly.

Keira was surprised to see her. The last time she went there was for her wedding.

โ€œCome sit here, beautiful. Long time no see,โ€ Lena greeted warmly. She had always liked Yuna.

Yuna walked over, carrying a box of fruit. โ€œKeira, I didnโ€™t know what you liked to eat, so I just bought a little of everything.โ€

Then she turned to Lena. โ€œSorry, Dr. Lane, I didnโ€™t know you were here, so Iโ€ฆโ€

She trailed off, clearly feeling a little uncomfortable.

Yuna was different from before. The once carefree girl now carried a shyness that suited her age, along with an elegance that came from being immersed in knowledge and culture.

Her change was particularly striking, and Keira couldnโ€™t help but think of her heart transplant.

Medically, there was no scientific proof that receiving a donorโ€™s organ could alter a personโ€™s traits. But in reality, there were countless cases suggesting otherwise.

Yuna now carried Narelleโ€™s heart. Had she also inherited something from Narelle?

Unfortunately, I had never interacted with Narelle, so I couldnโ€™t tell for sure.

โ€œThereโ€™s no need for all that here. Just seeing you and having a happy chat is enough,โ€ Lena said sincerely.

Over the years, she had saved many children and families. People had tried to thank her in various ways, but she had always refused their gifts.

โ€œHowโ€™s school? Are you still busy?โ€ Keira asked.

โ€œThe holidays are coming up, so things are winding down,โ€ Yuna replied.

Thatโ€™s when it hit Keiraโ€”of course, she would be on break soon.

And Keira quickly understood what that meant. She wouldnโ€™t be staying at school anymore. But she wouldnโ€™t be going back home either.

โ€œIf you donโ€™t have any other plans, why donโ€™t you stay here at the courtyard for the holidays?โ€ Keira offered.

Yuna glanced at Keira, then at Lena, before shaking her head lightly.

โ€œKeira, I already have other plans.โ€
