Chapter 178
It was late. Except for Miranda, resting in her room at Howard and Josiah's request, everyone else waited in the living room for news.
Finally, Hervey arrived. "We've found the driver."
Josiah leaped to his feet. "Where is he?"
"Our people are en route," Hervey replied.
"Lead the way," Josiah commanded.
"Okay," Hervey agreed.
Josiah headed out.
"Yvette," Howard said, looking at her.
Yvette paused, confused. "What's wrong?"
"Let's go too," Howard said.
Yvette's expression soured, though barely visible in the dim light. "Us? But your health..."
"It's fine. Sienna's my sister," Howard said, waving a hand dismissively. He couldn't remain idle while she was missing. He glanced at Yvette and frowned. "If you don't want to go, you can stay."
Yvette was startled, forcing a smile. "What do you mean? I'm worried about Sienna, too, of course." Sister? she thought. How could I not go? At least I can keep an eye on him. Suppressing her annoyance, she helped with the wheelchair. "I'm just worried about you. If you're going, let's go together."
"Okay," Howard nodded.
As Josiah stepped outside, he spotted the silver-gray Pagani. Cedric still hasn't left, he mused. No point in worrying about him. If he wants to tag along, let him.
Cedric watched the cars depart, gripping the steering wheel, his teeth clenched. His leg ached, worsening by the minute.
Heavy snow fell silently. In the old factory area, low buildings and a musty, damp air prevailed. The houses lacked flooring, revealing bare concrete. A thick copper wire connected to a dull orange incandescent bulb, inexplicably irritating.
Jaroda, a man with a buzz cut, likely in his thirties or forties, was restrained by several burly men. He yawned, tears welling. "Hey, guys, what do you actually want? It's late, and I need sleep."
Just then, Josiah entered and saw Jacob. He placed his hands on the table, leaning forward, his gaze piercing. "Where's my wife?"
"Ilub?" Jacob was utterly confused. "Who's your wife?"
"Zach," Josiah called.
Zach stepped forward, displaying a picture of Sienna on his phone. "Look closely. Do you remember now?"
"Wow, she's beautiful," Jacob said, admiring the photo.
"Stop talking nonsense," Zach snapped, tense. "She got into your car. Where did you drop her off? Do you remember?"
Jacob hesitated, then shrugged lazily. "How should I know?" He glanced around at the group, assessing their apparent wealth.
He tapped his forehead. "Let me thinkโฆ Oh, I remember. She ended upโฆ" He paused, looking at Josiah, clearly the leader.
Jacob smiled knowingly, raising his hand to mimic counting money. "If I give you the information, how much will you pay me?"
Josiah glared fiercely. "As long as your information is useful, money is no object."
"Say it," Zach growled, thinking Jacob was asking for trouble.
"Wait," Josiah said, placing a hand on Zach's shoulder and stepping forward.
"Mr. Flynn?" Zach was confused.
Josiah's gaze fell to the ground near Jacob's feet. He bent down and picked up a red cashmere vest. His eyes widened with fury. In a flash, he spun and kicked Jacob, sending him and the chair crashing to the floor.
"Mr. Flynn!" Zach exclaimed.
Josiah, Yvette, and Howard entered, Yvette taken aback by the scene. Josiah, boiling with rage, picked Jacob up and punched him again.
"Mr. Flynn!" Zach was frantic.
Josiah lifted Jacob, his eyes burning red. "Where is my wife? What have you done to her?"
Jacob, bloodied and battered, flashed a chilling smile, glancing at the red vest. "So, that woman is your wife, huh?" He mused, seeming to savor the memory. "Oh, if you had just mentioned it earlier, I would've remembered. She's really beautiful, with such perfect skin."
"You asked for it!" Josiah went berserk, punching and kicking Jacob mercilessly. "You bullied her! How dare you!"
Fear struck him. "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, Sienna wouldn't have been bullied by such trash."
Howard intervened. "Josiah, stop."
But Josiah couldn't stop. That red vest was Sienna's. He'd had it delivered just four hours prior. He couldn't comprehend how Jacob had taken it.
"Dare to touch her, huh?" On the verge of collapse, Josiah repeated the phrase, punching fiercely.
"Mr. Flynn," Zach tried to pull Josiah away, but was shoved aside. "Get lost!" Josiah roared.
"If this continues, something terrible will happen," Yvette whispered, a chill running down her spine. She saw the young Josiah of their pastโa boy fighting for his life, a wolf beneath a gentleman's facade.
Taking a deep breath, Yvette rushed to Josiah, holding him tightly. "Stop, Josiah. Please." She looked up at him. "If you beat him to death, how will you find out where Sienna is?"
She knew him best. "You can beat him, and I won't stop you. But wait until he tells us Sienna's location, right?"
Finally, Josiah stopped, his eyes gleaming red. That's right. I need to find Sienna.
Jacob lay on the ground, incapacitated.
"Speak. Where's my wife? What did you do to her?" Josiah demanded.
Jacob shook his head, pain overriding any cunning. "I don't know."
"You don't know?" Josiah was about to lose control again.
But Yvette held him firmly, glancing anxiously at Jacob. "What do you know? Hurry up and tell us!"
"Yes, I'll talk," Jacob replied hastily.
