Chapter 179
The pain left Jacob gasping. โSheโs incredibly tough,โ he gasped. โAfter I took off her coat, she kicked out the car window, grabbed a shard of glass, and lunged at me.โ He cried, rolling up his sleeve to reveal his cut arms, โIโm not lying! Look!โ
โShut up,โ Josiah snapped, impatient. โWhere is she?โ
Jacob shook his head. โI donโt know.โ
โStill doesnโt know?โ Josiah closed his eyes briefly, then looked down at Yvette, who clung to his waist. โYvette, let go. Today, I finish him off. That fool wonโt talk until heโs on the edge of death.โ
โNo,โ Yvette protested, refusing to release him. โHe really might not know.โ
Jacob curled on the ground, sobbing harder. โI really donโt know! She stabbed me, then ran. Iโฆ I couldnโt catch her.โ
Yvette looked at Josiah. โI think heโs telling the truth. Thereโs no reason for him to lie now.โ
Josiah closed his eyes, despair washing over him. โWhere could Sienna have gone? And if she stabbed Jacob with glassโฆ what about her? Was she injured?โ
His eyes snapped open, fixing on Jacob. โTell me, where was she?โ
โWhat?โ Jacob stammered, his mind reeling.
โAsking for death?โ Josiahโs eyes blazed with anger.
Before he could explode, Yvette clung to him, desperately trying to maintain her grip.
โI remember!โ Jacob cried, terrified. โAt the Stone Road intersection. She got out of the car there!โ
He shivered, barely able to breathe. โShe ran away. Thatโs all I know.โ
At the Stone Road intersection, Howard sat in his wheelchair, his face grim. โJosiah, thatโs enough. Let him go.โ
He glanced at Jacob with disdain. His voice, calm yet chilling, sent a shiver down Jacobโs spine. โListen carefully. If youโre lying, I wonโt kill you. But I have ways to make you wish you were dead.โ
Howard pressed a button, turning his wheelchair and heading out, calling softly, โHervey.โ
Hervey immediately approached to assist. โDonโt worry, Howard. Iโll send someone right away.โ
Stone Road was isolated, far from civilization. If Sienna had gotten off there, finding her would be difficult. Hervey and Zach immediately organized a search team.
As dawn broke, Josiah remained awake. Sleep eluded him; Sienna had been missing for nearly twenty-four hours. He thought, She wasnโt wearing anything warm, she didnโt take her phoneโฆ she has no friends or family here. Where could she be? Is she cold? Hungry? Why am I just sitting here? Why am I not the one suffering?
Miranda awoke to find there was still no news. Her anxiety spiked. โWhere on earth has Sienna gone?โ
Nearly twenty-four hours had passed. Hervey and Zach reported back, having searched Stone Road thoroughly, but finding no trace of Sienna. She had vanished. There were no hotel check-ins, no train or airport records, nothing.
Yvette entered, calling them to breakfast. โMiranda, Howard, Josiah, breakfast is ready.โ
โHow can I eat?โ Miranda sighed.
Yvette said, โMiranda, I know youโre worried, but you need to take care of yourself.โ She turned to Howard. โAnd you too. Youโre still in rehab; you need your strength.โ
Howard nodded and looked at Josiah. โCome on.โ
โNo,โ Josiah shook his head, starting upstairs. โMiranda, Howard, you eat. I canโt.โ
Yvette tried to stop him.
But Howard interrupted, โLet him go. He deserves this.โ
Yvette was stunned. Is Howard standing up for Sienna?
Upstairs, Josiah didnโt go to his room. He went to Siennaโs, curled up in her clothes on her bed, inhaling her scent. โWhere are you?โ he whispered.
He hadnโt slept, and even lying there, he remained wide awake, his head throbbing.
A knock came. โMr. Flynn,โ Zach called.
Josiah opened the door, his eyes bloodshot. โWhatโs going on?โ
โThere are some urgent company matters,โ Zach explained cautiously, sensing Josiahโs mood. After explaining, Josiah nodded. โGot it. Iโll clean up and head to the office.โ
โAlright, Mr. Flynn,โ Zach replied.
Josiah showered, shaved, and changed. Yvette appeared, noticing his exhaustion. โYouโre going to the office? Why not eat something first?โ
โNo need,โ Josiah replied.
Yvette grabbed his arm. โIf you were staying home, I wouldnโt say anything, but youโre going out on an empty stomach! How will you have any energy?โ
Josiah pulled away, breathing deeply. โI canโt eat. Sienna might be starving right now.โ
Yvette paused, laughing angrily. โIs it my fault sheโs hungry? Why are you yelling at me?โ
Josiahโs voice rose, his brows furrowing. โYvette, stop taking things that belong to Sienna.โ
โWhat?โ Yvette was shocked. โWhat did I take from her?โ
โThat evening dress,โ Josiah said, his eyes narrowing. โYou knew I ordered it for Sienna, yet you insisted on taking it.โ
Yvette stared, laughing in disbelief. โYouโre blaming me? Over a dress?โ
Josiahโs expression hardened. โIf Sienna had the dress, she couldโve gone to the party. Then none of this would have happened.โ
