Chapter 200

In an instant, Josaliโ€™s eyes narrowed in shock and disbelief. โ€œHow is that possible? With me pressing the matter, even if there was a dispute, itโ€™s a fact that they pushed Yvette!โ€

โ€œThe police said Ms. Young withdrew the complaint,โ€ Zach said.

Josiahโ€™s thin lips pressed into a line. His gaze was serious. He thought, Could it be like this? โ€œTo the hospital,โ€ he commanded.

โ€œYes, Mr. Flynn,โ€ Zach replied.

The hospital room door slammed open. Yvette, having just woken up, saw Josiah storming in, his anger palpable. Her heart tightened.

Yvette offered an awkward laugh. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on? So early in the day, who managed to upset Mr. Flynn?โ€

Josiah curled his lips, his eyes unusually sharp. His oppressive aura made it hard to breathe. He said bluntly, โ€œWhy did you withdraw the complaint?โ€

โ€œHmm?โ€ Yvette was momentarily taken aback. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she smiled gently. โ€œYouโ€™re talking about Rosie, right? Sienna came to see me yesterdayโ€ฆโ€

Josiahโ€™s lips twisted into a cold, mocking smile. โ€œSo, you went soft because Sienna pleaded with you?โ€

His attitude annoyed Yvette, but her delicate face remained serene. โ€œSienna is the Flynn familyโ€™s adopted daughter, part of the family. She asked me a favor. Isnโ€™t it right to oblige?โ€

โ€œStop with the empty talk!โ€ Josiahโ€™s anger peaked. His words were sharp and direct. โ€œJust because I donโ€™t say anything doesnโ€™t mean Iโ€™m unaware! Whatโ€™s your relationship with Sienna? Did you really soften up just because she asked?โ€

Yvette was momentarily speechless, her face paling. She stared at Josiah. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Iโ€™m not that generous, but if I didnโ€™t agree to her request, wouldnโ€™t she keep coming to you?โ€

Josiah was caught off guard, then smirked. โ€œGreat! You know Iโ€™m waiting for her to come to me. You did this on purpose.โ€

โ€œExactly!โ€ Yvette lifted her eyes to his dark, stormy face. A hint of frustration edged her voice. โ€œJosiah, you and Sienna arenโ€™t a good fit. Just break up.โ€

Josali was stunned. It took him a moment to recover. Then, he laughed uncontrollably. Raising an eyebrow, he said, โ€œYou think weโ€™re not suitable?โ€

โ€œIsnโ€™t that true?โ€ Yvette felt awkward and angry. โ€œShe doesnโ€™t even like you!โ€

He growled, โ€œAre you her? How do you know if she likes me?โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Yvette was so angry she bit her lip, her face flushed. โ€œJosiah, youโ€™re stupid! Sienna keeps saying weโ€™re inappropriate. She doesnโ€™t even trust you, so how can love be possible?โ€

Josiah, tall in his black suit, looked down at her. She said stubbornly, โ€œAnd what about you? Howard explained many times that he doesnโ€™t have someone else, but you still donโ€™t believe him. So, you donโ€™t like him either, right?โ€

โ€œYvette!โ€ Yvette was breaking down. Tears filled her eyes, her voice cracking with emotion. โ€œAre you out of your mind! Are you seriously comparing me to Sienna?โ€

โ€œWhy not?โ€ Josiah frowned, giving her a suspicious look. โ€œIsnโ€™t it the same reasoning?โ€

Yvette clutched her chest, feeling suffocated, but speechless.

Josiah closed his eyes, calming his breath. โ€œIโ€™m not here to argue with you. You saved me. I owe you my life. I kept my promise to protect you and the Flynn family. But that doesnโ€™t mean you can interfere in my life!โ€

โ€œInterfere in my life?โ€ Yvette laughed angrily, her eyes red with frustration. โ€œYouโ€™re using Rosie to make her come back to you. Thatโ€™s coercion, Josiah! Donโ€™t you know forced love wonโ€™t last?โ€

Josiah straightened, a slight shiver running through him. Then he calmly asked, โ€œIโ€™m the one picking the melon. Iโ€™m the one eating it, so how would you know if itโ€™s sweet?โ€

Yvette was stunned, speechless.

Josiah gave her a final glance. โ€œThis is the last time. From now on, stay out of my business!โ€

Josiah turned and left. Yvette couldnโ€™t stop him, but she had Rosieโ€™s phone. Broken promises were Josiahโ€™s problem.

That afternoon, Sienna arrived at the hospital. โ€œYvetteโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI know youโ€™re anxious,โ€ Yvette interrupted, shrugging. โ€œI dropped the charges, but Josiah insists on the legal process. Iโ€™ve tried to convince him, but he wonโ€™t back down.โ€

Sienna frowned, confused. โ€œBut youโ€™re the one involved. Youโ€™re not pursuing itโ€ฆโ€

โ€œYes, but causing harm on purpose is a criminal case, and it can be prosecuted,โ€ Yvette replied.

Siennaโ€™s tension was palpable. She looked at Yvette and softly laughedโ€”she had underestimated Josiahโ€™s feelings for Yvette. She thought, The person he cares about so much got hurt? Wouldn't that make him insane!

Even though Yvette didnโ€™t mind, he was determined to defend her. Mr. Flynn was rightly known as the most devoted person in the city.

Silently, Sienna turned to leave. Yvette narrowed her eyes, a victorious smile playing on her lips. Who wouldโ€™ve thought Iโ€™d benefit most from this chaos? she thought. Her leg was hurt, but she had Rosieโ€™s phone. Judging by Siennaโ€™s expression, she must hate Josiah now. Would Sienna beg Josiah for help? No way! If she doesnโ€™t, theyโ€™re finished!

Sienna didnโ€™t want to go, not because of pride, but because Josiahโ€™s fierce protection of Yvette made her efforts seem useless. But she had no choice; Rosie was involved because of her. Besides, she had a plan, albeit unconventional.

After leaving the hospital, Sienna went to the Flynn Group. She called Josiah once she arrived. She expected him not to answer, but after a few rings, Zach answered, โ€œHelloโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHello?โ€ It was Zach. โ€œSienna, looking for Mr. Flynn? Heโ€™s busy. Why donโ€™t you come up and wait for him?โ€
