Chapter 200
In an instant, Josaliโs eyes narrowed in shock and disbelief. โHow is that possible? With me pressing the matter, even if there was a dispute, itโs a fact that they pushed Yvette!โ
โThe police said Ms. Young withdrew the complaint,โ Zach said.
Josiahโs thin lips pressed into a line. His gaze was serious. He thought, Could it be like this? โTo the hospital,โ he commanded.
โYes, Mr. Flynn,โ Zach replied.
The hospital room door slammed open. Yvette, having just woken up, saw Josiah storming in, his anger palpable. Her heart tightened.
Yvette offered an awkward laugh. โWhatโs going on? So early in the day, who managed to upset Mr. Flynn?โ
Josiah curled his lips, his eyes unusually sharp. His oppressive aura made it hard to breathe. He said bluntly, โWhy did you withdraw the complaint?โ
โHmm?โ Yvette was momentarily taken aback. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she smiled gently. โYouโre talking about Rosie, right? Sienna came to see me yesterdayโฆโ
Josiahโs lips twisted into a cold, mocking smile. โSo, you went soft because Sienna pleaded with you?โ
His attitude annoyed Yvette, but her delicate face remained serene. โSienna is the Flynn familyโs adopted daughter, part of the family. She asked me a favor. Isnโt it right to oblige?โ
โStop with the empty talk!โ Josiahโs anger peaked. His words were sharp and direct. โJust because I donโt say anything doesnโt mean Iโm unaware! Whatโs your relationship with Sienna? Did you really soften up just because she asked?โ
Yvette was momentarily speechless, her face paling. She stared at Josiah. โYouโre right. Iโm not that generous, but if I didnโt agree to her request, wouldnโt she keep coming to you?โ
Josiah was caught off guard, then smirked. โGreat! You know Iโm waiting for her to come to me. You did this on purpose.โ
โExactly!โ Yvette lifted her eyes to his dark, stormy face. A hint of frustration edged her voice. โJosiah, you and Sienna arenโt a good fit. Just break up.โ
Josali was stunned. It took him a moment to recover. Then, he laughed uncontrollably. Raising an eyebrow, he said, โYou think weโre not suitable?โ
โIsnโt that true?โ Yvette felt awkward and angry. โShe doesnโt even like you!โ
He growled, โAre you her? How do you know if she likes me?โ
โWhat?โ Yvette was so angry she bit her lip, her face flushed. โJosiah, youโre stupid! Sienna keeps saying weโre inappropriate. She doesnโt even trust you, so how can love be possible?โ
Josiah, tall in his black suit, looked down at her. She said stubbornly, โAnd what about you? Howard explained many times that he doesnโt have someone else, but you still donโt believe him. So, you donโt like him either, right?โ
โYvette!โ Yvette was breaking down. Tears filled her eyes, her voice cracking with emotion. โAre you out of your mind! Are you seriously comparing me to Sienna?โ
โWhy not?โ Josiah frowned, giving her a suspicious look. โIsnโt it the same reasoning?โ
Yvette clutched her chest, feeling suffocated, but speechless.
Josiah closed his eyes, calming his breath. โIโm not here to argue with you. You saved me. I owe you my life. I kept my promise to protect you and the Flynn family. But that doesnโt mean you can interfere in my life!โ
โInterfere in my life?โ Yvette laughed angrily, her eyes red with frustration. โYouโre using Rosie to make her come back to you. Thatโs coercion, Josiah! Donโt you know forced love wonโt last?โ
Josiah straightened, a slight shiver running through him. Then he calmly asked, โIโm the one picking the melon. Iโm the one eating it, so how would you know if itโs sweet?โ
Yvette was stunned, speechless.
Josiah gave her a final glance. โThis is the last time. From now on, stay out of my business!โ
Josiah turned and left. Yvette couldnโt stop him, but she had Rosieโs phone. Broken promises were Josiahโs problem.
That afternoon, Sienna arrived at the hospital. โYvetteโฆโ
โI know youโre anxious,โ Yvette interrupted, shrugging. โI dropped the charges, but Josiah insists on the legal process. Iโve tried to convince him, but he wonโt back down.โ
Sienna frowned, confused. โBut youโre the one involved. Youโre not pursuing itโฆโ
โYes, but causing harm on purpose is a criminal case, and it can be prosecuted,โ Yvette replied.
Siennaโs tension was palpable. She looked at Yvette and softly laughedโshe had underestimated Josiahโs feelings for Yvette. She thought, The person he cares about so much got hurt? Wouldn't that make him insane!
Even though Yvette didnโt mind, he was determined to defend her. Mr. Flynn was rightly known as the most devoted person in the city.
Silently, Sienna turned to leave. Yvette narrowed her eyes, a victorious smile playing on her lips. Who wouldโve thought Iโd benefit most from this chaos? she thought. Her leg was hurt, but she had Rosieโs phone. Judging by Siennaโs expression, she must hate Josiah now. Would Sienna beg Josiah for help? No way! If she doesnโt, theyโre finished!
Sienna didnโt want to go, not because of pride, but because Josiahโs fierce protection of Yvette made her efforts seem useless. But she had no choice; Rosie was involved because of her. Besides, she had a plan, albeit unconventional.
After leaving the hospital, Sienna went to the Flynn Group. She called Josiah once she arrived. She expected him not to answer, but after a few rings, Zach answered, โHelloโฆโ
โHello?โ It was Zach. โSienna, looking for Mr. Flynn? Heโs busy. Why donโt you come up and wait for him?โ
