Chapter 215

โ€œOkay,โ€ Josiah said, his forehead slick with cold sweat, worry etched deep on his face. โ€œLetโ€™s go to the hospital now. Youโ€™ll be fine. I wonโ€™t let anything happen to you.โ€

His subordinate drove. Josiah immediately called Zach. โ€œTell them to get readyโ€”surgeons, orthopedic surgeonsโ€ฆโ€

โ€œObstetrician,โ€ Sienna interjected sharply, grabbing his sleeve.

Josiah was stunned. โ€œSienna, what did you say?โ€

It was an emergency. She wanted to hide it, but feared keeping the secret would jeopardize the baby. She knew this was risky; Josiah likely didn't want the child. But she had no choice. Clutching his sleeve, tears streamed down her face. โ€œJosiah, pleaseโ€ฆ save my baby. I know you donโ€™t want it. Itโ€™s mine. Iโ€™ll raise it myself and never bother you. Please, I beg youโ€ฆโ€

She covered her stomach, her face paling. She feared the baby was in danger.

The realization hit Josiah: Sienna was pregnant. She was carrying their baby.

He shouted into the phone, โ€œDid you hear that? Obstetrician! Get an obstetrician!โ€

โ€œYes, Mr. Flynn,โ€ Zach replied.

Hanging up, Josiah hesitated, then gently placed his hands on Siennaโ€™s belly. She leaned against him. He felt their baby within her, holding his beloved woman and their child. The wonder of it was overwhelming.

His heart pounded, a tremor in his chest. Heโ€™d lived a full life, but nothing compared to this moment. He kissed her forehead, his head bowed in disbelief. โ€œIs this real? Tell me itโ€™s true.โ€

Sienna couldnโ€™t see his face, but his tone was strange. Could he beโ€ฆ happy?

His excitement overshadowed her silence. He lowered his head and kissed her again. โ€œWhen did you find out? Why didnโ€™t you tell me?โ€

He mumbled, โ€œI heard the first three months are crucial; you need to be extra carefulโ€ฆโ€

Unfortunately, Sienna had just been kidnapped.

โ€œDamn it!โ€ Josiah narrowed his eyes, his voice cold and sharp. โ€œWe must find that couple. They will be punished.โ€

Sienna was even more confused. Did heโ€ฆ really care about this baby? But why?

Josiah recalled their earlier conversation. โ€œWait,โ€ he said, โ€œWhat did you mean earlier when you said I didnโ€™t want this baby?โ€

His eyes darkened, a frown furrowing his brow. โ€œWhy would you say that?โ€ he murmured, holding her close. โ€œYou asked me before, and I already answered.โ€

Sienna couldnโ€™t explain. The pain in her stomach was intense; she closed her eyes, refusing to speak.

โ€œOh, Sienna,โ€ Josiahโ€™s heart ached for her. He held her tighter, kissing her sweat-dampened forehead.

โ€œYou donโ€™t tell me anything, and then you overthink it. Weโ€™re almost there. Weโ€™ll soon reach the hospital,โ€ he said gently.

Sienna leaned against him, silent. She no longer understood him. His heart hadn't always been with her. Could it be that he didnโ€™t mind if a woman he didnโ€™t love bore his baby?

Growing unease churned in her stomach as they approached the hospital. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and gripped his hand tightly.

โ€œJosiah,โ€ she whispered weakly.

โ€œIโ€™m here,โ€ Josiah said, his heart leaping. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œIโ€ฆ Iโ€™m bleedingโ€ฆโ€ Tears streamed down her face.

โ€œWhat?โ€ Josiah instantly understood the gravity of bleeding during pregnancy. The memory of Yvetteโ€™s miscarriage four years ago was painfully fresh. Holding her hand tightly, he pressed it to his lips. โ€œItโ€™ll be alright. Itโ€™ll be fine.โ€

His voice trembled, betraying his fear. โ€œFaster! Even faster!โ€ he roared at his subordinate.

โ€œMr. Flynn,โ€ his subordinate stammered, โ€œweโ€™re going as fast as we can.โ€

Sienna clutched his hand, her eyes brimming with tears. Josiah lowered his head and kissed her eyes. โ€œDonโ€™t cry. Thereโ€™s hope.โ€

He mumbled, his throat tightening, โ€œEven ifโ€ฆ Weโ€™re still young. We can have moreโ€ฆโ€

โ€œNo, no,โ€ Sienna sobbed, shaking her head. โ€œI only want this one.โ€

โ€œOkay, okay,โ€ Josiah nodded repeatedly. โ€œWeโ€™ll have this one. It will be fine.โ€

Sienna looked at him, speechless. This comfort meant nothing. He didnโ€™t understand her pain, or anything.

If this baby were lost, she would lose more than just a child. She would shatter Joyceโ€™s hope.

The car screeched to a halt. His subordinate opened the door. โ€œMr. Flynn, weโ€™re here.โ€

โ€œSienna, weโ€™re here,โ€ Josiah said, carrying her inside. Zach had arrived, and medical staff rushed toward them with a stretcher.

He placed Sienna on the stretcher, holding her hand. โ€œItโ€™s okay. Youโ€™ll be okay soon.โ€

โ€œJosiah,โ€ she cried, her grip loosening. โ€œSave our baby! Save it!โ€

โ€œOkay. Donโ€™t worry,โ€ he promised.

Wheels rolled, carrying Sienna into the emergency room. Through the curtain, she heard voices.

โ€œMr. Flynn, this is the director of obstetrics and gynecology,โ€ Zach announced.

โ€œHello, Doctor. I entrust my wife and baby to you,โ€ Josiah said courteously, even in this urgent moment. โ€œPlease save my wife. Please save our baby. Please.โ€

The doctor nodded. โ€œMr. Flynn, rest assured. I will do my best.โ€

Tears slipped down Siennaโ€™s face as she closed her eyes.

The curtain parted, revealing the obstetrician. โ€œMrs. Flynn, Iโ€™m ready to begin your examination.โ€
