Chapter 254
Josiah rasped, "Sienna, stop playing around." Sienna ignored him, burying her face in his neck and kissing him. He half-growled, his voice deep and rough, filled with intensity. Josiah hurried into their bedroom and tossed Sienna onto the bed.
Sienna wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her lips to his. Finally, Josiah pulled away, clinging to sanity while battling the fire in his eyes. "Remember, the doctor said you need to take it easy these next few days," he said.
Sienna frowned, her lips pouted. "Rest? Are you kidding? I've been waiting for these days. I don't need to rest. I feel perfectly fine."
Josiah swallowed, gently brushing aside her tousled hair. "Are you feeling okay?"
"Yeah," Sienna nodded, tugging his collar.
Josiah's scalp tingled. His breath enveloped her. "If you start feeling bad, tell me right away."
"Josiah, you're so annoying! Are you crazy?" Sienna asked.
Josiah thought, Am I being doubted? That heartless woman. She doesn't know I care. He wouldn't hold back any longer. Afterward, he got water for Sienna. "Take it slow." She nodded, nestled in his arms.
Josiah held her close, unwilling to let go. He sensed her unusual eagerness, almost desperation. Maybe she's scared? Because of Gedric. I didn't answer her calls. She's scared I might break up with her. That's probably why she clung to me so tightly tonight, he thought, feeling both satisfied and sorry for her. He softly stroked her hair, whispering her name.
"Hmm?" Sienna murmured.
Josiah lowered his head, kissing her gently. "Don't be afraid. I'm never letting you go." Sienna looked up, startled.
Josiah pressed his cheek against hers. "I still care about you. I can't bear to let you go." Remembering her running to Gedric tightened his chest. "You need to stop thinking about Gedric. You've broken up. I really can't handle it. Whenever you see him, it's like I don't even exist. If it happens again, I can't promise what I might do!"
He unconsciously tightened his grip on her arm. "Sienna, promise me you'll forget him. Even if you meet him again, act like he's a stranger."
Sienna was stunned. Is he getting jealous? Or is it just Mr. Flynn's possessiveness?
When she didn't respond, Josiah frowned. "Sienna? Why aren't you saying anything? Didn't you hear me? Or do you not want to?"
Sienna smiled softly. "I heard you. I promise."
Pleased, Josiah kissed the corner of her mouth, then lightly bit her. "You promised me! No lying!" He lifted her. "Let's go take a bath."
"Run the water first. Come back and carry me later," Sienna waved her hand.
"Okay," Josiah replied.
Sienna adjusted her pillow and clasped her hands. "God, I'm begging you, let it succeed this month. Dr. Nelson said the more anxious I am about getting pregnant, the harder it is, but how could I not worry?"
Chapter 251
Tara praised Joyce, "You're great, you never spill your food." She told Sienna, "It's because you taught her well."
Sienna smiled. "Not really. Maybe it's just natural." She hadn't been strict.
Joyce had started eating independently at eighteen months. By two, she ate exceptionally well, rarely spilling. Her table manners were unusually refined.
Joyce raised her spoon. "Mom, I want some strawberries."
Sienna smiled. "Okay. Eat your food, and I'll wash some strawberries for you."
Winter was perfect for strawberries. Three large, bright red strawberries were enough for Joyce. Sienna washed, cut, and plated them.
The phone rang. "Hello?" It was Josiah. "Sienna, I might be home late tonight. If it's too late, go to bed without me."
I have to sleep alone! That means he'll be home very late! Sienna frowned. "Why? Can't you reschedule?"
These days were crucial. Josiah smiled. "You don't want me to go to the meeting? Want to spend time with me instead!"
Sienna replied, "Yeah, can you not go?"
Josiah considered. "How about this? After work, I'll have Zaid pick you up and bring you over. With you there, it'll be easier for me to decline. How does that sound?"
Holding a bowl of strawberries, Sienna went outside. "Alright, I'll wait for you."
"Alright." Josiah tossed his phone in the air, thrilled by Sienna's attachment.
Yosef entered, seeing Josiah's joyful expression. "Wipe that dreamy look off your face! Don't you remember I'm single? Are you trying to rub it in?"
Josiah laughed. "Sorry about that."
In the evening, Zaid picked up Sienna. Josiah and the others were in a meeting. Zaid whispered, "Ms. Shaw is here, waiting in the lounge."
"Got it, thanks, Zaid." Josiah texted Sienna: [There's food in the fridge, a tablet on the table, and you can watch TV. Just chill out for a bit. I'll join you once I've finished the work.]
Sienna replied: [Okay.] with a blushing smiley emoji. Josiah smiled.
After the meeting, Yosef suggested, "Let's head to Mousea House tonight, my treat."
Josiah said, "You guys go ahead. I'm not coming."
Yosef looked at him. "What's going on! I thought you agreed."
Josiah's thoughts were already in the lounge. "Sorry, my girlfriend showed up. She's clingy and insists I stay with her, or she'll start causing a scene! What can I do?"
