Chapter 281
โSienna!โ Josiah called from the bathroom.
โComing,โ Sienna replied quickly, still speaking to Hannah on her phone. โHeโs calling me. Bye. Iโm counting on you.โ
She rolled up her sleeves and entered the bathroom. Looking at Josiah, she asked, โWhatโs the big deal?โ
Smiling, Josiah raised his arms. โAm I bothering you?โ
โDonโt bathe. Just endure it for a few days,โ Sienna said.
โItโll smell awful,โ Josiah complained. โI couldnโt care less. But I wouldnโt want you and the baby to suffer.โ
Josiah leaned closer. Sienna said, โStand still, or youโll wash yourself.โ
โOh,โ Josiah said, grinning and standing quietly. โAm I being good?โ
Sienna silently pressed his head down. โClose your eyes. Itโs time to wash your hair. Be careful not to get water in your eyes.โ
The next day, Josiah collected Sienna from the TV station. They planned to return to the Flynn residence that evening. Miranda, thrilled by the news of Siennaโs pregnancy, had insisted Josiah bring her home.
With the recording still two days away, Sienna was busy rehearsing. Josiah waited outside the rehearsal room. When the door opened, he looked for Sienna.
โJosiah!โ Chelsea suddenly appeared, running toward him with open arms. โWere you looking for me?โ
Josiah calmly stepped back, looking past her. โIโm looking for Sienna.โ
Chelsea frowned, but Josiah had already reached Sienna, taking her hand. โAre you tired? How are you feeling?โ
He thought Sienna should rest at home, given her pregnancy. But Sienna disagreed. โIโll be careful and avoid strenuous work. Lying around at home would be bad for the delivery.โ
Josiah, having no choice, agreed. Sienna said, โIโm not tired. Iโll go change. Please wait a minute.โ
โAlright,โ Josiah replied.
After Sienna left, Chelsea pouted at Josiah. โI was talking to you. Why are you ignoring me?โ
Josiah responded nonchalantly, โIs there something you need?โ
โWe had fun the other day. Letโs go out again tonight.โ
Josiah chuckled. โWhy would I go out with you?โ
Chelsea looked surprised. โIf you spent more time with me, you might like me. Iโm no worse than Sienna.โ
โYouโre not as beautiful as she is.โ
Chelsea paused, then retorted, โThere are a million ways to be beautiful.โ
Josiah nodded, unshaken. โThatโs true. But I just like her type.โ
Chelsea was stunned, speechless.
Sienna emerged after changing. Josiah smiled, walking toward her and putting his arm around her shoulders. โLean on me. Itโll save your energy.โ
Chelsea glared at the couple, enviously biting her lip. โYou just wait! Iโm not giving up!โ
Sienna looked at Chelsea, then at Josiah. โShe doesnโt seem happy. Shouldnโt you comfort her?โ
Josiah laughed. โPlease spare me. I only said a few words to her, and she took a photo of me without my noticing.โ
Sienna pouted. โYou two seem so cozy.โ
โNot at all!โ Josiah placed his hand on her belly. โI swear, if Iโm ever unfaithful to you, may I be forever single.โ
Siennaโs heart pounded. She playfully patted his mouth. โMr. Flynn, have you put honey in your mouth today?โ
โHave I? Iโm not sure. Why donโt you try it?โ He leaned closer to her lips.
โStop! There are too many people watching us!โ
โI wonโt stop!โ
At the Flynn residence, Miranda waited eagerly at the door. โSienna!โ
โGrandma.โ
โYouโve lost so much weight.โ Miranda looked at Josiah. โHow are you taking care of her? Sheโs so skinny! Arenโt you feeding her?โ
โGrandmaโฆโ Josiah stammered.
Howard chuckled. โWell, it looks like weโve dropped a level in family status.โ
Miranda glared at her grandsons. โCan either of you get pregnant?โ Helping Sienna inside, she cautioned, โSienna, take it easy. You have to be careful.โ
Miranda was cautious; their family had few descendants. After two grandsons, she was finally going to have great-grandchildren.
Howard looked at his brother. โNow that Sienna is pregnant, what are you going to do?โ
โIโm making plans,โ Josiah said softly, smiling. โIn fact, I had plans even before Sienna got pregnant. I ordered a ring, but it hasnโt arrived yet. Once it does, Iโll need your and Grandmaโs helpโฆโ
An engagement ceremony would require their family's attendanceโboth for Josiahโs support and to honor Sienna.
Howard readily agreed. Josiah lowered his voice. โHoward, what about your wedding with Yvetteโฆ?โ
Their marriage plans had been put on hold by Bobbyโs arrival. Howard said, โWhether we marry or not, I will follow her wishes.โ He always deferred to her.
Josiah wondered if Howard truly loved Yvette. He hadnโt doubted it before, but now, despite Howardโs kindness, something seemed missing.
Knowing it would be awkward to discuss love between men, Josiah changed the subject. โHowโs Bobbyโs mother doing?โ
Howard remained calm. โThe bandages have been removed, but sheโs lost her sight. Weโre contacting doctors to see if surgery is an option.โ He knew he couldnโt stay with Rosie forever; heโd have to face Yvette.
โPlease hurry,โ Josiah urged. โYvette is upset.โ
โI know,โ Howard replied.
At the dining table, Miranda fed Bobby and offered Sienna more food. โThank you, Grandma,โ Sienna said.
Howardโs phone buzzed. It was Hervey. โHoward, Rosie has run away!โ
