Chapter 281

โ€œSienna!โ€ Josiah called from the bathroom.

โ€œComing,โ€ Sienna replied quickly, still speaking to Hannah on her phone. โ€œHeโ€™s calling me. Bye. Iโ€™m counting on you.โ€

She rolled up her sleeves and entered the bathroom. Looking at Josiah, she asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s the big deal?โ€

Smiling, Josiah raised his arms. โ€œAm I bothering you?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t bathe. Just endure it for a few days,โ€ Sienna said.

โ€œItโ€™ll smell awful,โ€ Josiah complained. โ€œI couldnโ€™t care less. But I wouldnโ€™t want you and the baby to suffer.โ€

Josiah leaned closer. Sienna said, โ€œStand still, or youโ€™ll wash yourself.โ€

โ€œOh,โ€ Josiah said, grinning and standing quietly. โ€œAm I being good?โ€

Sienna silently pressed his head down. โ€œClose your eyes. Itโ€™s time to wash your hair. Be careful not to get water in your eyes.โ€

The next day, Josiah collected Sienna from the TV station. They planned to return to the Flynn residence that evening. Miranda, thrilled by the news of Siennaโ€™s pregnancy, had insisted Josiah bring her home.

With the recording still two days away, Sienna was busy rehearsing. Josiah waited outside the rehearsal room. When the door opened, he looked for Sienna.

โ€œJosiah!โ€ Chelsea suddenly appeared, running toward him with open arms. โ€œWere you looking for me?โ€

Josiah calmly stepped back, looking past her. โ€œIโ€™m looking for Sienna.โ€

Chelsea frowned, but Josiah had already reached Sienna, taking her hand. โ€œAre you tired? How are you feeling?โ€

He thought Sienna should rest at home, given her pregnancy. But Sienna disagreed. โ€œIโ€™ll be careful and avoid strenuous work. Lying around at home would be bad for the delivery.โ€

Josiah, having no choice, agreed. Sienna said, โ€œIโ€™m not tired. Iโ€™ll go change. Please wait a minute.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Josiah replied.

After Sienna left, Chelsea pouted at Josiah. โ€œI was talking to you. Why are you ignoring me?โ€

Josiah responded nonchalantly, โ€œIs there something you need?โ€

โ€œWe had fun the other day. Letโ€™s go out again tonight.โ€

Josiah chuckled. โ€œWhy would I go out with you?โ€

Chelsea looked surprised. โ€œIf you spent more time with me, you might like me. Iโ€™m no worse than Sienna.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re not as beautiful as she is.โ€

Chelsea paused, then retorted, โ€œThere are a million ways to be beautiful.โ€

Josiah nodded, unshaken. โ€œThatโ€™s true. But I just like her type.โ€

Chelsea was stunned, speechless.

Sienna emerged after changing. Josiah smiled, walking toward her and putting his arm around her shoulders. โ€œLean on me. Itโ€™ll save your energy.โ€

Chelsea glared at the couple, enviously biting her lip. โ€œYou just wait! Iโ€™m not giving up!โ€

Sienna looked at Chelsea, then at Josiah. โ€œShe doesnโ€™t seem happy. Shouldnโ€™t you comfort her?โ€

Josiah laughed. โ€œPlease spare me. I only said a few words to her, and she took a photo of me without my noticing.โ€

Sienna pouted. โ€œYou two seem so cozy.โ€

โ€œNot at all!โ€ Josiah placed his hand on her belly. โ€œI swear, if Iโ€™m ever unfaithful to you, may I be forever single.โ€

Siennaโ€™s heart pounded. She playfully patted his mouth. โ€œMr. Flynn, have you put honey in your mouth today?โ€

โ€œHave I? Iโ€™m not sure. Why donโ€™t you try it?โ€ He leaned closer to her lips.

โ€œStop! There are too many people watching us!โ€

โ€œI wonโ€™t stop!โ€

At the Flynn residence, Miranda waited eagerly at the door. โ€œSienna!โ€

โ€œGrandma.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve lost so much weight.โ€ Miranda looked at Josiah. โ€œHow are you taking care of her? Sheโ€™s so skinny! Arenโ€™t you feeding her?โ€

โ€œGrandmaโ€ฆโ€ Josiah stammered.

Howard chuckled. โ€œWell, it looks like weโ€™ve dropped a level in family status.โ€

Miranda glared at her grandsons. โ€œCan either of you get pregnant?โ€ Helping Sienna inside, she cautioned, โ€œSienna, take it easy. You have to be careful.โ€

Miranda was cautious; their family had few descendants. After two grandsons, she was finally going to have great-grandchildren.

Howard looked at his brother. โ€œNow that Sienna is pregnant, what are you going to do?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m making plans,โ€ Josiah said softly, smiling. โ€œIn fact, I had plans even before Sienna got pregnant. I ordered a ring, but it hasnโ€™t arrived yet. Once it does, Iโ€™ll need your and Grandmaโ€™s helpโ€ฆโ€

An engagement ceremony would require their family's attendanceโ€”both for Josiahโ€™s support and to honor Sienna.

Howard readily agreed. Josiah lowered his voice. โ€œHoward, what about your wedding with Yvetteโ€ฆ?โ€

Their marriage plans had been put on hold by Bobbyโ€™s arrival. Howard said, โ€œWhether we marry or not, I will follow her wishes.โ€ He always deferred to her.

Josiah wondered if Howard truly loved Yvette. He hadnโ€™t doubted it before, but now, despite Howardโ€™s kindness, something seemed missing.

Knowing it would be awkward to discuss love between men, Josiah changed the subject. โ€œHowโ€™s Bobbyโ€™s mother doing?โ€

Howard remained calm. โ€œThe bandages have been removed, but sheโ€™s lost her sight. Weโ€™re contacting doctors to see if surgery is an option.โ€ He knew he couldnโ€™t stay with Rosie forever; heโ€™d have to face Yvette.

โ€œPlease hurry,โ€ Josiah urged. โ€œYvette is upset.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ Howard replied.

At the dining table, Miranda fed Bobby and offered Sienna more food. โ€œThank you, Grandma,โ€ Sienna said.

Howardโ€™s phone buzzed. It was Hervey. โ€œHoward, Rosie has run away!โ€
