Chapter 282

Howard calmly answered his phone. "What's going on?" he asked.

Rosie, though blind, moved freely. A guard and a maid were assigned to her, but their vigilance was lax.

Hervey explained, "The guard was in the bathroom, and the maid was checking the food delivery receipt. Rosie escaped from the kitchen." It appeared premeditated. Perhaps her blindness lulled the guards into complacency.

"I'll be right there," Howard said, hanging up and preparing to leave.

Miranda, looking worried, asked, "Where are you going?"

Howard forced a smile. "I have something to attend to. Bobby and Sienna will keep you company, Grandma," he reassured her.

Meanwhile, Sienna subtly gestured towards her untouched plate. Josiah quietly transferred some food to his own.

"You little brat!" Miranda exclaimed, slapping Josiah's head. "Can't you eat your own food? Why take Sienna's?"

"Grandma…" Josiah said, his eyes innocent. "Sienna hasn't been eating much lately, and the food is too rich for her. She prefers soup."

Miranda gently touched Sienna's hair. "Is that true?" She called to the maid, "Make some soup! Make sure it's not greasy!"

Miranda gave the remaining food to Josiah. "It's all yours now," she said. Josiah and Sienna exchanged helpless glances.

It was late, and they needed to return to their rooms. However, due to Sienna's pregnancy, Josiah remained in her room.

Preparing for bed, Josiah said, "If you need food during the night, I'll help you." He patted the bed. "Get in."

Sienna nodded. "Okay," she murmured, lost in thought. Since her pregnancy, Josiah had been exceptionally considerate.

As she closed her eyes, she contemplated their past four years. The past, however, was an immutable reality.

Just as Josiah was about to switch off the lights, Sienna's phone rang. "Who could it be?" she wondered, answering. "Hello?"

"Sienna, it's me, Rosie!" a familiar voice exclaimed.

"Rosie?" Sienna's eyes widened. "Where are you? Are you alright?"

"I'm sorry to bother you, but I don't know who else to call. Can you please come get me?"

"Okay, I'll be right there!"

Rosie was at the police station. Upon their arrival, they found her sitting quietly in a corner, disheveled, with cuts and scratches on her face.

"Rosie!" Sienna rushed to her side, taking her hand. "I'm here."

"Sienna?" Rosie flung herself into her arms, weeping. "I'm blind! They took off the bandage, and I can't see anything! Sienna, I'm blind!"

Sienna's eyes filled with tears as she held Rosie close. She offered silent comfort.

"Rosie, get up, we're leaving," Sienna said, suppressing her bitterness, supporting Rosie as they walked. At the door, Sienna guided her, "Slow down, there's a step… right foot first… down… now the left…"

Reaching the car, Josiah asked, "Where are we going?"

"City Pearl," Rosie replied. "Thank you, Mr. Flynn."

"You're welcome."

The car drove to City Pearl. Josiah helped them into the apartment. With one pregnant and the other blind, he couldn't leave them alone. The apartment was old, but heated.

Sienna prepared hot water, found clean clothes for Rosie, and helped her wash. Josiah watched her return. "Do you need help?" he asked.

"No, I'm fine," Sienna said, shaking her head. "Rosie needs care, and I want to stay with her. You should go home."

Josiah knew he couldn't dissuade her. "Okay, I'll leave. Call me later?"

Sienna nodded. "Alright, go home, it's late."

Josiah hugged her tightly. "Don't overtire yourself."

Leaving, he saw Howard's car waiting—a result of Josiah's earlier call.

In the car, Howard asked, "Is she okay?"

"She's shaken, emotionally unstable," Josiah replied.

Howard sighed softly. He didn't want to alarm her, but lacked a better solution. "What next? Sienna's with her, and things are difficult," Josiah added.

Howard considered. "We'll contact her doctor and formulate a plan."

Back in the apartment, Rosie felt better after her bath. Sienna applied antibiotic cream to her cuts. "What happened? Where were you?" she asked.

Rosie sighed, tears welling. "I… I was held captive."

"What?" Sienna gasped. "Who? Why?"

"It's unbelievable. They treated me well. A doctor visited daily."

Sienna listened, experiencing a sense of déjà vu. Josiah had treated her similarly days ago. A thought struck her.

"Maybe your captor is in love with you," Sienna suggested.

Rosie was stunned. "What are you talking about? Who would fall for someone like me? I have a bad reputation."

"Let's discuss this later," Sienna said, helping Rosie lie down. "Sleep now."

"Okay."

Sienna's phone buzzed with a message from Hannah: [I've arranged for you to meet Dorian, my cousin. He will help you.] A QR code to add Dorian as a contact was included.
