“Sienna, you’re even more detestable than I imagined,” Yvette interrupted coldly, folding her arms. “You always torment Josiah like this. Do you enjoy it?”

Sienna was taken aback. Her gaze sharpened as she glared at Yvette. “I torment him?” she retorted.

Sienna sneered. “This is a case of setting a thief to catch a thief! I’m leaving, as you two can confer and accept each other as you please.”

Josiah and Yvette’s expressions turned serious. Sienna had overheard their conversation. Josiah felt embarrassed; he didn't understand Yvette's outburst.

“Sienna…” Josiah grabbed her arm, refusing to let go.

“Aren’t you going to let go?” Sienna looked at him amusedly. “I’ve said it before, Howard is with Rosie, and your chance has come.”

“No!” Josiah’s voice was hoarse with anxiety. “I’ve told you, I only want you.”

Yvette thought, Only wanted Sienna! Her eyes shook, fine cracks appearing. Her lips curled. Interrupting abruptly, she addressed Sienna, “So, you’re making a scene because of what I said?” She glanced at Josiah, her tone cold and clear.

“I did say that to Josh just now, but it was a joke. Josiah and I both happen to be single. I was feeling sentimental and spoke without thinking.”

Josiah, feeling more confident, looked at Sienna hopefully. “You heard it, right? Yvette was just joking.”

Sienna thought, Just joking? She found it laughable. Struggling with her wrist, she said, “That’s your business. It has nothing to do with me; no need to explain.”

“Sienna…” Josiah said.

“Indeed, there’s no need to explain,” Yvette agreed. She snorted. “Sienna, you’re still as troublesome as before, just in a different way. Isn’t Josiah pampering you enough? You should be…” She continued, “After all, you’re not his girlfriend now. Even if I really… pursued him, you have no right to say anything.”

“Yvette!” Josiah’s scalp tightened. “Stop, okay? Sienna is already very upset.”

Yvette pursed her lips. “Alright, I’m doing this for your sake.”

Sienna laughed coldly. “Yvette, you’re really good at pretending. But do you know what? You’ve lost all your dignity!”

Yvette’s face stiffened. “What are you saying?”

“Can’t understand?” Sienna clenched her teeth, forcefully breaking free from Josiah, meeting Yvette’s gaze. She spoke slowly, word by word. “Let me make it clear. You’ve been indecisive between the two brothers, liking and wanting both of them.” She added, “Now that the older brother is out of the picture, you turn to the younger one. But you didn’t expect that he’s not that easy to win over, did you?”

Sienna burst into laughter, feeling satisfied. Her eyes were sharp. “Caught by me, afraid of being rejected, so you claim it was a joke! Such a silly excuse, only to fool yourself!”

She pointed at Josiah. “I dare say, he understood it too. Do you believe it or not?”

“Shut up!” Yvette’s face tensed, turning pale then red, her teeth clenched in anger.

Sienna laughed heartily. “Wanting both brothers, fickle and inconsistent—that’s exactly you!”

“Sienna! Stop!” Josiah said. Before Yvette could lose control, he wrapped his arm around Sienna’s waist and lifted her. “We’re leaving.”

“Josiah!” Sienna was shocked, her legs kicking, but she was overpowered. She was carried away.

He didn’t go far, just to the hall. Josiah put her down. “Don’t run, your legs are short. No matter how far you run, I can catch you.”

“Why catch me?” Sienna asked.

She brushed her hair, teasingly saying, “Your sweetheart confessed to you. Shouldn’t you be overjoyed and quickly accept her, so you two can be happily together?”

“Still talking?” Josiah raised his voice. “That was just a joke she made!”

“A joke?” Sienna stopped laughing, speaking seriously. “Believe me, women understand women better. She wasn’t joking. She really likes… um…” Her mouth was silenced by a kiss.

This kiss, somewhat punitive, was lingering, deep, and nibbling. “Ouch!” Sienna protested, but he didn’t stop.

After several minutes, he released her. Sienna’s mouth was swollen, her lips bright red. Josiah, proud and resentful, caressed her lips. “If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll kiss you again, an hour at least. If you don’t want your mouth…”

“How is it nonsense?” Sienna didn’t take it seriously. She was earnestly telling him.

She looked at him suspiciously. “Do you really not believe it, or because you’ve been expecting it for too long, you’ve lost your sense of reality? Afraid to believe? Let me tell you, it’s true. Your dream girl really confessed to you. Um…”

Again, Josiah lowered his head and kissed her. He chuckled. “If you want me to kiss you, just say it. I’ll fulfill your wish. Why be so roundabout?”

“Um…” Sienna’s eyes widened.

“Focus, if you’re going to kiss, do it properly!” Josiah said.

Miranda’s examination results came out. No serious issues, but she needed overnight observation. Josiah first sent Sienna back to Sunshine Neighborhood. On the way, she remained silent.

He dropped her off at the apartment entrance. “I have to go to the hospital early tomorrow. I won’t pick you up. I’ll meet you at the crew in the evening.”

Sienna, knowing she couldn’t stop him, didn’t argue.

“Go inside,” Josiah patted her hair. “Get some rest early.” He warned, “Focus on filming, don’t casually add anyone on WhatsApp. Men can be bad.”

Sienna sneered inwardly, Yes, the worst one is right in front of my eyes.

After leaving Sunshine Neighborhood, Josiah returned to the Flynn residence. He’d been discharged from the hospital and was living alone in Silver Beach, but Miranda insisted he stay in the old house.

He reached the staircase and encountered Yvette coming downstairs for a drink.

“Yvette,” Josiah said, slightly taken aback and uncomfortable.

“Back already?” Yvette said, unfazed, raising her cup. “I’m just getting water. I’ll head up now.”

Josiah nodded slightly. He watched her go, lost in thought. Is what Yvette said just a joke?
