Chapter 368
Outside the ward, the nurse greeted Josiah, "Hi, Mr. Flynn."
"How is she?" Josiah asked.
"She's fine now," the nurse replied.
Yvette, sitting in a wheelchair, looked up as she heard footsteps. Josiah rushed in, his face etched with concern and panic. "Yvette?"
Yvette raised an eyebrow, a smile spreading across her face. "Did I scare you?"
She pushed herself forward, looking slightly embarrassed. "Sorry about that. I wasn't feeling well earlier, and the nurse overreacted, but I'm feeling much better now."
Josiah studied her, relieved. He sighed, nodded, and said, "I'm glad you're alright."
He sat on the couch, tugging at his tie, clearly agitated.
"What's going on?" Yvette asked, raising an eyebrow. "You seem upset. Is it because of me?"
Josiah instinctively shook his head.
"Don't deny it," Yvette teased playfully. "I've known you for years; I can tell when you're upset." Josiah fell silent.
"What's wrong?" Yvette asked, her playful tone gone. "Can't you tell me?" She sighed softly. "I'm guessing it's because of Sienna, right?"
Josiah froze, his gaze flickering upward, about to deny it.
"I already saw it," Yvette said before he could. "That whole buzz about her admirer showing up on set is all over the trending news." It had been quickly suppressed; Yvette knew Josiah had ordered it.
"Did you go see her? Did you figure out what happened?"
Josiah frowned, evasive. "It's just some admirer. No big deal."
"Is that so?" Yvette smiled. "You don't look like it's 'no big deal.'"
Josiah paused, deciding against arguing. His mood was terrible. He'd forced Sienna into accepting his proposal, but her attitude was distant and resistant. He worried, If things don't change soon, how is this going to work? A married couple constantly at oddsโit's destined to make them resentful strangers.
Yvette remained silent for a moment, then pushed her wheelchair closer. "Josiah."
He thought she was going to comfort him and forced a smile. "I'm fine."
"Are you twoโฆ breaking up?" Yvette's sharp question cut through the air.
Josiah looked surprised. "We've only had some arguments. It's not that bad."
"Is it necessary?" Yvette frowned. "You've been fighting nonstop since you got together. You're always upset because of her, and she refuses to talk. I don't understand why you're still holding on to this relationship."
Josiah hadn't expected this. He looked into her eyes, his frown deepening.
Yvette smiled. "We're alike, Josiah. We're too stubborn when it comes to love, but the truth is, we don't have to be so attached. If he or she isn't the right one, we should let it go. There's a whole future ahead of us."
Josiah hesitated. "Yvette, it's not like letting go of Howard."
Yvette didn't give him a chance. "Why not take a look at me instead?" This was the second time she'd said this, the first being after she discovered about Howard. Yvette leaned in, serious. "Josiah, let's be together." She used her hand to hold his. "Josiah, Iโฆ what about you? Do you like me?"
Josiah stood, pulling away. "Yvette, calmโ"
"You don't have to say anything," she interrupted, determined. "... I'm going to give it my all." She noticed his expression seemed off. He didn't have that same easy smile. Ever since Sienna married into the Flynn family, heโd seemed distant. With a confident grin, she continued, "Remember when we were kids? You promised you'd take care of me. You looked out for me... how do you feel the same way for me now?" She paused, noticing his distant expression. He didn't seem willing to be with her.
