Chapter 112
โI was helping Mr. Hunt into the washroom and accidentally got some water splashed on me. Mr. Huntโs assistant helped buy this outfit for me.โ
Rachel sounded neither offensive nor defensive; she spoke without so much as a twitch in her eyebrow, making it difficult for William to find anything suspicious in her tone.
Samantha asked curiously, โHow did you help Mr. Hunt alleviate the effects of the drug? I heard that itโs impossible to resist them just by sheer willpower!โ
Smiling, she explained further, โRachel, Iโm not doubting your and Mr. Huntโs innocence. Iโm just curious. I donโt know much about it, and only heard about it on TV.โ
Her words deliberately pushed Rachel into the eye of the storm.
Samantha was no stranger to the birds and the bees. Everyone knew that ordinary people would find it nearly impossible to overcome the effects of such aphrodisiacs.
Although William didnโt ask any further, the look in his eyes made it clear that he was waiting for Rachelโs response.
The tension in the room was palpable.
Rachel felt her breath catch in her throat and her heart race. She alone knew how antsy she felt inside despite how calm and composed she remained on the outside.
She clenched her fists so hard, her nails dug into the flesh of her palms. The sudden, sharp pain made her flinch and dispelled the haze in her mind.
The moment Samantha and William found something amiss, things would only become more troublesome from here onward.
She had to get past this as calmly as she could manage.
Rachel took a deep breath and tilted her head to look at William.
โOthers might not be able to resist the effects of the drug, but you know Tyler and how mind-boggling his tolerance level is. You canโt compare him with normal people.โ
Rachel knew how risky her answer was. In fact, the alternative of telling a fib would probably have been a safer option.
However, she knew clearly that a lie would need to be covered up by even more lies. The more lies she told, the more loopholes in her story.
She would rather tell the truth. Aside from one particular detail, she had no qualms about telling William everything else.
William was no stranger to Tylerโs astonishing tolerance level.
In that regard, Tyler was no human but a beast instead.
He was capable of things beyond human ability in many aspects, tolerating things many others found impossible. He tolerated not by compromising his standards, but by being excellent at adapting to situations.
Rachel had no clue about the background of Williamโs relationship with Tyler, but each time she mentioned Tyler, she could clearly sense something amiss in Williamโs mood.
Silence ensued in the room. Williamโs face fell, but he kept quiet, his silence a form of torment to Rachel.
She felt so nervous, she could hardly breathe.
A moment later, William retracted his gaze and said, โOnce Project Oasis comes to an end, I hope youโll cease all interactions with Tyler. You know how I am, Rachel.โ
โOkay,โ she complied obediently.

Even without William asking for it, Rachel had set her mind to avoid all other interactions with Tyler from now on.
Rachel returned to her room and was opening the door when she heard Samantha asking William in that cloyingly sweet voice, "William, isnโt it too much of us to force Rachel like this?"
โNot at all. She was the one who engaged in such dealings with Tyler Hunt behind my back in the first place,โ William remarked casually.
Rachel stepped into her room and started packing her things. She filled her luggage case with everything she wanted to bring with her, and ignored everything that William gave her.
She had already sold everything she could in return for cash.
In the road ahead of her, she had only herself to rely on. Cash was something she sorely needed.
Thankfully, William didnโt pursue the matter regarding Tyler any further.
Yet, Rachel wondered if that was considered a good thing for her.
