Chapter 146
Xavier had been prescribing medication for Tyler for years to treat his sleeping disorder. There was a period when it had become so frustrating that it had nearly broken him. He had even begun to doubt whether he was truly cut out to be a doctor. How could he not even fix a single case of insomnia?
Over the years, heโd tried everything he could think of, including acupuncture, herbal remedies, dietary therapy, and even sound-based treatments like white noise. If it existed, he tried it. If it didnโt, he invented it. But the results were minimal at best.
As a doctor, if all his efforts had failed, he really couldnโt imagine what else could possibly help Tyler fall asleep.
โYou have to tell me, who did this? What exactly did they do to make you sleep that long?โ
He had to know.
Someone had managed to put this chronic insomniac to sleep for six straight hours. That was practically a miracle. The best solution heโd ever come up with had only managed to keep Tyler asleep for a little over four hours.
Tyler looked genuinely helpless as he said, โSince youโre asking so sincerely, Iโll do you the kindness of telling you. Itโs very simple, singing.โ
โWhat?โ Xavier thought he mustโve misheard. โDid you just say singing? Bro, are you messing with me? Singing what? โHappy Daysโ?โ
โโTorchโ.โ
โPfft! I get it now. Itโs because your mental age is three, right? My apologies. I clearly overestimated you before.โ
He had tried playing music for Tyler in the past. It had mostly been soothing stuff, of course. Who wouldโve guessed this guy preferred childrenโs songs?
Tyler lowered his voice and growled, โGet lost.โ
Xavier just kept going. โBut hey, if it really works, maybe you should hire that person to sing for you regularly. Speaking of, now Iโm really curious, who was it that sang you to sleep?โ
โYou know her. Mrs. Lewis.โ
โWilliamโs wife?โ Now Xavier was truly shocked. โOkay, now what is wrong with you? I mean, sure, I can understand wanting someone who can sing childrenโs songs, but did it have to be his wife? Can you imagine the drama if this ever gets out? The kind of headlines? Man, I donโt even want to think about it. You just recovered from the last beating. If this keeps up, Gerald might whip you again.โ
Tyler wasnโt the type to sit around listening to people ramble. โEnough. You sound like an old woman nagging. Cut it out.โ
He didnโt even wait for Xavier to say another word. He just hung up.
Company policy had them meeting at the LS Enterprise building by half past seven, but it was already well past departure time, and there was still no sign of Rachel.
Tyler checked his watch. His expression was cold and detached. He was here strictly for business. โWhatโs going on? Why isnโt she here yet?โ
William looked confused. โDidnโt you two share a hospital ward last night? Didnโt she say goodbye before she left?โ
Tylerโs eyes darkened. His tone was laced with mockery. โWhat, William? Are you asking me to find your wife now?โ
William had been all bold and righteous a second ago, but one look from Tyler and all his confidence immediately deflated. He hesitated for a few seconds, then turned away and kept trying to video call Rachel.
Chapter 146
There was still no answer.
That was when Arsen walked over to remind them, โMr. Lewis, itโs been over thirty minutes. Should we go?โ
The sun was particularly harsh today. William squinted slightly under the bright glare with hands on his hips. โYou guys go ahead. Iโll wait for her.โ
