Sasha smiled. She almost laughed. โYou really have no idea, do you? Let me tell you something. Thereโs no such thing as pure friendship between a man and a woman.โ
โMom, you have to do something. Tyler was so cold to me just now. He even told me not to call him Tyler anymore.โ Just thinking about it made Yvette feel humiliated all over again.
Tylerโs harsh words had shattered her pride. He left her raw and exposed in the most painful way possible.
All these years, she had worked tirelessly to play the perfect daughter of the Lloyd family, trying to outshine Rachel. But no matter what she did, everyone still thought she couldnโt compare to her.
Sasha gently patted Yvetteโs shoulder. โAlright, alright, calm down. Come on, step outside with me. I need to tell you something."
โOkay.โ
Yvette followed Sasha out of the ward. Once they were sure no one was around, Sasha leaned in and lowered her voice.
โWhat are you so afraid of? Your sister hasnโt woken up yet, and no one even knows if she ever will.โ
Yvette instantly understood what Sasha was implying. Her eyes lit up but just as quickly dimmed again. โBut the doctor said thereโs still a chance she might wake up. And if she doesโโ
Sasha leaned closer and whispered in her ear. โDonโt worry. These things are up to us. The doctor did say she hit her head and had intracranial bleeding. Who can say for sure?โ
Yvette looked at Sasha in horror. โMom, youโโ
Sasha couldnโt stand seeing her daughter so timid. She pulled Yvetteโs hand away from her mouth. โIf you donโt have the guts, fine. Just know that when she wakes up and starts stealing your man again, donโt come crying to me. Itโs up to you. Either be ruthless once and for all, or keep letting her walk all over you. Think about it.โ
With that, Sasha turned and walked away.
Yvette stood there with her brows furrowed. She felt torn.
What was she supposed to do? Could she really do that to Rachel? She was still alive.
Yet Sasha wasnโt wrong. As long as Rachel was around, Yvette would never know peace. She would never truly become the rightful eldest daughter of the Lloyd family.
Rachel lay on the hospital bed, her mind hazy like she was trapped in a long dream.
She saw herself lying in a pool of blood. She saw herself being rushed into an operating room, the blinding white light overhead making it impossible to open her eyes.
Voices echoed in her head. The doctor was talking to someone.
โWe donโt know when sheโll wake up. At the earliest, twenty-four hours.โ
Rachelโs heart jolted violently.
What did they mean, twenty-four hours? She didnโt have twenty-four hours. Her flight was at midnight. If she missed it, it would be considered forfeit.
If she had to wait for the next opportunity, that wouldnโt come for another ten years.
Rachel tried with everything she had to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt like they were glued shut and impossible to lift.
Chapter 200
She was surrounded by darkness again.
That same night, all of Yurelia City was turned upside down. โEarth shatteringโ would be putting it lightly.
Meanwhile, William was still at the hospital with Samantha. Samantha lay in bed, tightly holding Williamโs hand. Her eyes were wide with concern.
โWilliam, do you think something might be wrong with the baby?"
Williamโs mind was completely preoccupied with Rachel. He hadnโt heard a word Samantha was saying.
