Chapter 793

When Tyler heard Rachel, he smiled. He touched his lips, fighting back laughter as he looked at her.

โ€œWhatโ€™s this, Rachel? Iโ€™ve never seen you so unsure of yourself.โ€

Rachel shook her head, not knowing how to put her feelings into words.

โ€œThatโ€™s not what I mean. Itโ€™s not insecurity. You just donโ€™t get it. Itโ€™s more of being surprised, you know? I never imagined you and I would end up like this. Not once did I picture it. You know what I mean?โ€

Being with Tyler already felt surreal, but realizing he had secretly been in love with her all along was even more shocking. It was like watching a notorious player suddenly flip into the role of a hopeless romantic.

Tylerโ€™s warm fingertips brushed against her cheek.

โ€œYouโ€™re incredible, Rachel. I like you for my own reasons. You donโ€™t have to do a thing. Just keep being yourself.โ€

Rachel couldnโ€™t stop herself from smiling.

Just then, Yale knocked on the door.

Tyler released Rachel and brought a fist to his lips before clearing his throat.

โ€œWhat is it?โ€

โ€œNews just came in. Your aunt has calmed down and promised not to act on impulse again. As for Ms. Charlton, she was a victim in all of this. She didnโ€™t know the full extent of Ms. Lyonsโ€˜ plan. Looks like sheโ€™ll just be deported in the end.โ€

That didnโ€™t surprise Tyler. Anne had changed her residency long ago, so unless something major happened, the authorities wouldnโ€™t keep her here.

โ€œWhat about Sheryn?โ€

โ€œMrs. Wilma hired the best lawyer she could find. Plus, Ms. Lyons never told Sawyer to kill Ms. Lloyd. Sawyer acted on his own, and when Ms. Lloyd got hurt, the bigger responsibility fell on him. Ms. Lyons shouldnโ€™t get too heavy a sentence.โ€

โ€œI see. Once Sherynโ€™s released, make arrangements for her and her mother to leave the country. Iโ€™ll cover the costs, but I want one condition met first.โ€

Tyler had been waiting for this moment all along.

Yale looked up. โ€œWhat condition?โ€

โ€œTalk to my aunt. If Sheryn is willing to change her testimony and give proof that Howard bribed her to lie, Iโ€™ll make sure they get out safely. Howard wouldnโ€™t go after them abroad, anyway.โ€

Yaleโ€™s eyes lit up with excitement: โ€œThatโ€™s perfect! If that works, we can finally clear Ms. Lloydโ€™s name.โ€

โ€œGet it done.โ€

โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Yale had always thought Tyler had resigned himself in Howardโ€™s case. Without Sherynโ€™s changed testimony, they had no stronger evidence. He figured the matter would just die down.

But now, it seemed that Tyler had been planning this all along. He had just been waiting for the right time to act.

Once Yale left the office, Rachelโ€™s face lit up with surprise and relief. She grabbed Tylerโ€™s hand tightly.

โ€œYou were planning this from the start, werenโ€™t you?โ€

Tyler ruffled her hair the same way he did with Ray. โ€œOf course. I told you, Iโ€™d never let you take the fall.โ€

Rachel smiled, and warmth flooded her heart.

Tyler really was making good on every promise he had ever made to her. She had never imagined that a man who seemed so cold and unapproachable could love her this deeply.

Thankfully, the terms Tyler offered were irresistible. From Wilmaโ€™s point of view, it was all gain and no loss, so she agreed right away.

But for Rachel, another major problem remained.

Due to Wilmaโ€™s suicide attempt, online backlash was still going strong against LS Enterprise, and the negative comments hadnโ€™t died down.
