Chapter 857

Rachel asked anxiously, โ€œWhat happened?โ€

โ€œHer condition seems to have worsened. She fainted at work, but donโ€™t worry. Sheโ€™s out of danger right now. How are things going on your side?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, itโ€™s all settled. Dr. Elias has agreed to return with us to treat Cecilia. Given his current state, having him operate on Cecilia is out of the question, but he can provide some suggestions that will help a lot. He has experience in this field, after all.โ€

Hearing that Rachel had it all settled, Tyler said nothing more.

โ€œThatโ€™s great. Donโ€™t worry too much about Cecilia, too. Things have pretty much stabilized.โ€

Rachel glanced at her watch. โ€œIโ€™ll book the tickets right away and let you know once I confirm the time.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

After hanging up, Rachel asked Jerry to check for the earliest flight back.

Jerry was unlocking his phone when someone crashed hard into the car from behind. His phone slipped out of his hand and fell onto the floor.

Rachelโ€™s head hit the steering wheel, and she felt faint. Before she could recover from the impact, someone opened the car door.

Two men dragged her forcefully out of the car. She tried to resist with whatever strength she had left in her, but it was hardly enough.

Yale and Jerry saw Rachel being dragged away and rushed out of the car immediately. Another man hit them both at the back of their heads with a stick, knocking them out cold.

When Rachel regained consciousness, the dim lighting around her made her eyes squint in discomfort. She looked around her, her nerves tense.

She was getting way too familiar with such warehouses, and it triggered a stress response in her at once.

Previously, Howard dragged her to an abandoned warehouse in the suburbs. Rachel never told Tyler that until now, she would occasionally dream about what happened at the warehouse.

Fear crept up Rachelโ€™s heart, gripping her like vines on a wall. She was in a foreign land and not in her home country. Back there, their safety could be guaranteed, but over here, no one could guarantee their safety.

โ€œYale, Jerryโ€ฆโ€

She looked around and saw Jerry and Yale tied up at a corner. They had their backs facing each other and didnโ€™t look injured, which made Rachel feel relieved.

Rachel yelled, โ€œJerry, Yale, wake upโ€ฆโ€

Jerry and Yale regained consciousness.

Upon seeing Rachel, Yale asked anxiously, โ€œMs. Lloyd, are you alright?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m fine. Are you two okay?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re fine,โ€ Jerry replied. โ€œRachel, did you see who abducted us?โ€

Rachel was the only one who saw their attacker, as they were both hit at the back of their heads and lost consciousness before they could take a good look.

Rachel shook her head. โ€œI donโ€™t recognize him, but I suppose the mastermind wonโ€™t get his hands dirty doing this himself.โ€

Yale and Jerry nodded.

Yale said, โ€œYouโ€™re right. Do you think theyโ€™re doing it for money or to rob us?โ€

Safety and security were always an issue overseas.

Rachel shook her head. She didnโ€™t think they were doing it for monetary gain.

โ€œThink about it. We were at the entrance of Dr. Eliasโ€™ house. If they were in it for the money, why didnโ€™t they rob Eliasโ€™ house instead of robbing us foreigners? They canโ€™t even be sure whether we have money on us.โ€

Rachelโ€™s words made realization dawn upon Jerry.
