“Exactly. If they were doing it for money, why didn’t they rob Elias, who’s so rich? Why would they bother robbing us?”

Applause sounded within the warehouse. All of them looked in the direction it came from.

Rachel’s heart leapt to her throat when she saw who it was.

It was Howard!

Wasn’t he receiving treatment at the hospital? Why was he out and about so soon? And how did he know her whereabouts?

A series of questions popped up in Rachel’s mind, none of which she could figure out the answers to.

Was Howard following them right from the start?

Anger burned in Rachel’s heart at the memory of what he had done previously. Until now, this bastard hadn’t been brought to justice.

However, Tyler mentioned that Sheryn had amended her statement, which the police made a record of. The case was still pending and might take a while before they arrived at a verdict.

She didn’t expect Howard to make a move so soon.

Howard walked in, looking as arrogant as before. There was, however, a shadow lurking in his eyes that was probably left behind when he drove his father to such anger that the man had to be hospitalized.

Rachel struggled with all her might, but her hands were bound up tight.

Howard approached Rachel and smiled wickedly, sending a chill down her spine.

“Ms. Lloyd, do you know how tough it was for me to nab you this time? I’ve got Tyler to thank for being up to his ears in work recently, or it would have been almost impossible for me to see you like this.”

Howard’s voice alone made her instinctively feel repugnant.

“Howard, you’ve already made this mistake once. Are you going to commit the same mistake again?”

Her words made his eyes turn dark with anger.

“The nerve of you to talk about that mistake! If it weren’t for you guys, would things have turned out this way for me? Rachel, you and Tyler ruined me! I won’t be able to have my own child in the future. Do you think I’ll ever spare you for that? My father’s still lying in the hospital until now. The doctor said that his organs are failing because of how agitated he was the last time, and he doesn’t have many days left before him.”

Rachel stood stunned, not expecting to hear those words from Howard’s mouth. She knew that his father was hospitalized but didn’t know that his condition had worsened so much.

She didn’t know if Tyler would call her later. She did tell him she would call him after confirming the flight details.

She wondered if he would call her after waiting for her call in vain.

She could only hope that Tyler would soon realize that something had happened to them.

“You brought this upon yourself! You insisted on having me when there are countless women out there in this world. Why must you insist on me? Howard, have you ever considered the possibility that this is all your own fault? You should go find Tyler, too. I wasn’t the one who made you infertile!” Rachel snapped.

Howard, furious, roared, “Rachel, stop trying to provoke me! Do you really think I can’t tell what you’re up to, trying to make me target Tyler instead?”

He reached out to grab Rachel’s jaw.

“Would I be foolish enough to clash head-on with Tyler? I know very well I can’t beat him, but do you know what brings him the most pain?”
