Chapter 946
The day Rachel was discharged, the sun was shining in the sky. Tyler had a white rose displayed in the car and placed a thick stack of wedding planning documents on the front passenger seat.
โLetโs head home and get some rest. Yale and I are handling the wedding planning, but if you have any thoughts about it, we can always change things around.โ
Tyler helped Rachel buckle her seatbelt, his finger lightly caressing her eyes. โThe doctor said youโll have to take extra care of your eyes for a while. Donโt keep staring at screens.โ
Rachel nodded with a smile and focused on the view whizzing past outside the window. She was starting to get excited about the wedding.
When they reached home, Wanda had already prepared a bowl of chicken soup for Rachel.
Sunny and Ray were already home after their check-up with the vet. Both were circling Rachelโs feet. Her heart melted at the sight of them rubbing their furry heads against her legs.
Wedding preparations became the most exciting thing over the next few days.
Tyler would print out their shortlisted gown designs and wedding favors, and lay out the photos on the carpet in the living room so that Rachel could take her pick while lying down comfortably.
Thomas would occasionally call them, reminding them to select dishes that agreed with Rachelโs pregnancy. He even suggested writing and delivering a speech for them.
Rachel would at times accompany Tyler to the wedding banquet venue. It came with a courtyard attached, with osmanthus flowers decorating the entire place and a red wooden arch at the entrance.
โThe osmanthus flowers will be in full bloom on our wedding day, and youโll walk down the aisle right here. Itโll be a beautiful sight, Iโm sure.โ
Tyler hugged Rachel from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head as he spoke tenderly into her ears.
Rachel leaned into his embrace and caressed her stomach. โI just miss my ex-colleagues. The last time I chatted with them, I wanted them to attend my wedding. Itโs a pity that we lost touch after we all started getting busy.โ
Her tone was one of slight regret.
When she used to work in the design company, she shared a good relationship with a few of her colleagues. Unfortunately, they didnโt have much time to catch up after she returned to the country, although they still had each other in mind.
Tyler tightened his grip over her hand, a smile lurking in the depths of his eyes. He didnโt say anything as he combed his fingers through her wind-tousled hair.
โYouโll never know. Perhaps thereโll be a surprise on the day itself.โ
On the day of the wedding, Rachel was woken up early in the morning by the makeup artist.
After putting on the gown, she looked at herself in the mirror, tears welling up in her eyes.
When she divorced William, she thought she would never have a chance to get married again. Who knew that she would end up with Tyler, who insisted on giving her such a grand wedding?
When Tyler pushed the door open and walked in, he saw the tears brimming in Rachelโs eyes and hurried over, wiping her tears away with his warm fingers.
โWhy are you crying? Itโs our big day today, you know.โ
โIโm just so happy,โ Rachel said as she leaned into Tylerโs embrace, choking on her emotions.
โAll the more you shouldnโt be crying. I want everyone to see what a beautiful and glowing bride you are,โ Tyler said as he held her steady. โLetโs go. Itโs time to head to the courtyard. Everyoneโs waiting.โ
โWhy isnโt Rachel here yet? I canโt wait to see her in her wedding gown!โ
โDonโt be anxious. Iโm sure sheโll be here very soon. Letโs put our wedding gifts down first.โ
Rachel was stunned as she looked in the direction of the voices she overheard. That was when she spotted some familiar figures seated in the lounge area of the courtyard.
They were her ex-colleagues!
Jacqueline, whom she used to stay late at work to rush proposals with, Leroy, who would always buy her breakfast, and Charles, whom she always complained about clients with.
โWhat are all of you doing here?โ Rachel asked in surprise, stopping in her tracks.
