He barely ate anything himself, just kept peeling lobsters and crabs. He placed the crab meat and shrimp into Aurora’s bowl, his eyes shining as he said, “Aurora, you have to try this place. I found it online with a food guide.”

Aurora looked at Lucas acting like a loyal little puppy, and how could she not be moved? Especially when his face matched her taste so perfectly—sharp brows, bright eyes, and a high nose bridge.

With her mouth full of shrimp, Megan mumbled, “Lucas, since when do you even know how to go online? How come I didn’t know? You even know how to make a food guide? That’s strange. Don’t tell me your assistant did it for you?”

Lucas paused mid-peel, glanced at Megan, and said through clenched teeth, “If you don’t speak, no one will mistake you for a mute.”

“Oh, fine then.” Megan went back to gnawing on her crab.

Aurora heard what Megan said about the assistant but didn’t take it to heart. Whether or not it was the assistant’s idea didn’t matter. What mattered was that Lucas was willing to put in the effort. After all, she was going to spend her life with Lucas, not his assistant.

But Lucas grew cautious, worried that Aurora might be affected by those words. He quickly explained, “That’s because I never had much dating experience, so I asked Desmond for advice. I just wanted to know how to make a girl happy.” Lucas lowered his head slightly, like a guilty big dog who’d done something wrong.

The sight made Aurora’s heart soften. Why hadn’t she noticed before that Lucas had such an adorable side? Still, she coughed lightly and said, “I don’t care about that. It doesn’t matter whether he taught you or not. What matters is that your kindness toward me is real.”

Hearing this, Lucas looked up in shock, his eyes glittering as he stared at her. Unable to help himself, he reached out and touched Aurora’s hand.

Before she could respond, Megan blurted out, “Hey, hey, hey, what’s this about? You’ve just had one meal together, and you’re already making up? I don’t agree!” Lucas’ face darkened like the bottom of a pot as he glared at Megan, his molars clenched tight. “Megan, have you grown bolder these days?”

Megan ignored him completely, sitting upright and eating her shrimp with exaggerated seriousness. “I don’t care. If you two make up this quickly, wouldn’t that be disrespectful to me?” In an instant, Megan transformed into a self-righteous crusader. The sight made Lucas’s hands itch with irritation.

Aurora quickly stepped in as the peacemaker. “Alright, alright, both of you stop.”

God knew, when Megan had said that earlier, Aurora had nearly burst out laughing. In any case, Megan had certainly enjoyed this meal to the fullest. From time to time, she threw a jab at Lucas or kept a close eye on his every move. The moment he did something slightly off, she immediately spoke up, making it impossible for Lucas to make any progress with Aurora. After the meal, Megan was inwardly delighted.
