She felt she was protecting Auroraโs love. At the very least, Lucas needed to be left hanging for a few days. Megan leaned close to Auroraโs ear and told her the same thing. She even spoke up indignantly, โA guy like my cousin, who dared to deceive you before, deserves to know what it feels like to be ignored for a while. This is too much. If you donโt teach him a lesson this time, heโll definitely do it again.โ
โAlright, alright, I get it, my little housekeeper.โ
Aurora truly had no temper left when it came to Megan. Lucas couldnโt help but let out a cold laugh in his heart. โMegan, Iโll remember you today. Letโs see if you can still smile when you get home tonight.โ
Megan, on the other hand, was carefree. All the way, she kept chatting with Aurora, not giving Lucas any chance at all. But she didnโt stop to thinkโsince the two of them lived in the same room, there would be plenty of time to talk later. She might be able to stop it for now, but she couldnโt stop it forever.
When Megan got home, her face was still lit with a smile. She thought she had successfully solved Auroraโs problem. That way, her cousin wouldnโt have any chance to take advantage of the situation. He was clearly the one at fault, and now he still wanted to sweet-talk Aurora? She would never allow that to happen. She stood firmly and unconditionally on Auroraโs side. After all, she had always thought this way. Between her cousin and Aurora, there was never any hesitation in her choice. Humming a tune, Megan strolled leisurely into the villa, completely unaware of what awaited her. The moment she stepped inside, she sensed something was off; a murderous aura swept straight toward her. Megan looked around and found her parents sitting in the living room, not even asleep at this hour. It was already eight or nine after dinner, and normally her parents were all about healthy routines. Cautiously, Megan asked, โWhatโs going on? Why are you two sitting here? Do you have something on your minds?โ
โGood child, come here,โ Eleanor spoke to her gently.
Seeing Eleanor like that, Megan couldnโt help but shiver. She rubbed at the goosebumps on her arms and said with disgust, โMom, if you have something to say, just say it. What are you trying to pull? Look at this, Iโve got goosebumps all over because of you.โ
Eleanor was speechless. The child had grown; it seemed a beating was in order. Robert glanced at Eleanor, signaling her to hold back, that he would handle it. โMegan, what did you do outside today? Did you have fun?โ He waved Megan over, gesturing for her to sit beside him.
Megan sat down unsuspectingly between them. Hearing her fatherโs question, she wasnโt surprised in the least. She recounted everything she had done today in detail. โI didnโt do much. I slept most of the day, because Aurora said the studio isnโt too busy these days, so I didnโt need to go in.โ At that, Megan clapped her hands with feeling. โAh, my best friend being the boss is the best. I can go to work whenever I feel like it, and itโs pretty free. Not so many people bossing me around.โ
Her parents exchanged a look, both understanding what Megan meant. It seemed this job was still too easy. Both of them silently wondered if they should ask Aurora to increase the workload a bit.
