โAnd then? What else did you do today?โ Robert coaxed patiently.
She told her parents about Lucas.
โYou donโt know how awful my cousin is. He actually kept things from Aurora, and before this, he even threatened me not to tell her. Now that the truth is out, heโs pushing all the blame onto me.โ
Megan gave a cold snort. โThe kind of man I hate most is exactly like that.โ
Robertโs mouth twitched slightly.
So that was why she had stopped her cousin from getting close to his wife?
Now they finally understood why this child rubbed everyone the wrong way.
But seeing her so careless and clueless, they couldnโt help worrying about her future.
Lucas had already called the house, and if they didnโt rein her in soon, who knew what he might do next.
Eleanor rubbed her forehead. โSilly girl, donโt you know thatโs their way of strengthening their relationship? What are you doing meddling in between them?โ
โStrengthening their relationship?โ
Megan looked from one parent to the other, seeing they were both serious.
But she still felt something was off.
โThen what are you telling me all this for?โ
She scratched her head, certain she hadnโt done anything wrong today.
Besides, Aurora hadnโt planned to forgive Lucas anywayโsheโd just been helping to hold things back.
Shouldnโt her parents be praising her for being a righteous crusader?
That was exactly what Megan thought, and she said it out loud.
Hearing this, her parents nearly blacked out.
Was this girl truly foolish or just pretending?
She was interfering in a married coupleโs relationship, yet somehow managed to spin it like sheโd done something remarkable. Megan still had no guard up.
Eleanorโs fiery temper finally burst.
She reached out and poked Meganโs forehead, scolding with frustration, โWhat on earth is going on in that little head of yours? Is it all filled with mush?โ
This time, even Robert couldnโt help adding a sarcastic remark.
Megan clutched her head, full of grievance. โWhat did I even do wrong? I was just protecting Auroraโs moral bottom line, wasnโt I? Besides, it was my cousin who messed up first! Am I not even allowed to say it?โ
Robert nearly lost his breath in anger.
Hearing that, he shot Eleanor a look. โI really canโt handle this kid anymore. Since you are her mother, sheโs yours to deal with.โ
Eleanor waved her hand. โI canโt do anything either. That stubborn brain certainly doesnโt come from me.โ
โForget it, letโs just dock her allowance. That way she might finally learn something.โ
At first, Megan didnโt care. No matter what they said, she wasnโt bothered until she heard that last partโthen she nearly jumped out of her seat.
โNo way!โ
She shot to her feet in agitation. โMom, Dad, you canโt take away my allowance!โ
โWhat, did you think I was negotiating with you?โ
Eleanor looked at Megan, her eyes full of disbelief, as if to say, โYou think you can tell me what to do?โ
Robert leaned against Eleanor in agreement. โExactly. The money in this house is all in your motherโs hands. What I say doesnโt even count.โ
Megan was speechless.
She looked at her parents being all lovey-dovey, held it in for a long while, then finally muttered, โI donโt care. I didnโt do anything wrong, so youโre not allowed to dock my money!โ
