Lucas’ gaze lingered on Aurora in her business attire, the fitted cut outlining her figure, every graceful curve accentuated. Her delicate face, usually so composed, now carried a touch of unease brought on by nerves. To Lucas, that hint of fluster only made her seem more real—less untouchable, more alive—and all the more captivating.

“Don’t be nervous.” His lips curved into a faint smile as he leaned closer to whisper in her ear. “You look beautiful.” With that, he brushed a kiss against her earlobe. Aurora shivered from the tingling warmth that spread through her. “But I’m really not ready,” she murmured.

Lucas, however, spoke with utter seriousness. “You’re already perfect. Just standing there, you’re like a work of art. What else is there to prepare for?” “If my parents see I’ve married someone this stunning, they’ll probably be over the moon.” Aurora was shocked. She still couldn’t believe these words had come out of the mouth of a so-called domineering CEO. So, the online jokes were true—men like him should’ve been muted before they embarrassed themselves with lines like that. It was, in fact, the first time she’d heard Lucas speak this way. For a moment, it even struck her as oddly fresh. Noticing her fixed stare, Lucas began to feel self-conscious. “What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?” Aurora laughed softly. “It’s just the first time I’ve heard you talk like this.” “Isn’t it normal?” Lucas pinched her soft cheek with ease. “In front of you, I can be anything.” At that, Aurora found herself flushing with embarrassment. It was the first time she’d ever seen him so unabashed. Before, their conversations had carried a hint of restraint, but now Lucas was completely unguarded with her. Aurora pressed her lips into a smile and chose not to say more.

But Lucas continued, “So, will you come meet my parents? They’re just coming back to the estate in the next couple of days.” Aurora frowned. “But I still have the program recording coming up. I don’t even know when it will start.” “That’s easy.” Lucas pulled out his phone, about to make a call. Aurora asked in confusion, “What are you doing?” “I’ll ask them when the shoot begins for you.” Aurora was confused. “Wouldn’t that make me look like I’m throwing my weight around?” Lucas gave a cold snort. “I’d like to see who dares to say that about you.” Aurora still hesitated. “Why don’t we wait a couple of days? Since I don’t know the exact schedule yet. Tomorrow Ian has to go out to do the field measurements, and I still need to wait on the filming time, so it all conflicts a bit.” Deep down, she also felt that if she was going to meet his parents, she needed to prepare properly. Just showing up unannounced felt far too rude.

Lucas admitted openly, “My parents are coming back from overseas. My mother has been touring everywhere, and now they want to come home and meet you. If the timing clashes, then next time it is.” He wasn’t about to push her. After all, they were both adults, with work of their own to manage.
