Following Ian around really had taught him so much. He realized he hadn’t made the wrong choice joining this studio. It was even better than the big corporations he had worked at before. The atmosphere here was just as good, if not stronger in unity, and there was none of the scheming and backstabbing he had seen elsewhere. The longer he worked here, the more he enjoyed it.

After giving out a few more simple instructions, Aurora pulled Megan aside. “Megan, I need to ask you something.”

“What is it? You look so serious.” It was the first time Megan had seen Aurora so tense. Usually, even if the sky fell, Aurora never lost her composure.

“Aren’t you and Lucas cousins?”

Megan scratched her head. “How should I put it? He’s actually more like a distant relative.”

“Distant?” Aurora had assumed their relationship was quite close.

“I do call him cousin, but our families don’t see each other often. And you know his family is very well-off. I call him my cousin because his mother is my mother’s cousin. Our families aren’t that close, so I also just call his mom Auntie. It’s more of a polite title than real closeness.”

“So that’s how it is?” Aurora had always thought the two families were well connected, at least enough that both sides knew about each other.

“Why do you suddenly ask about this?” Megan asked curiously. After all, Aurora had never shown much interest in these things before. Even though she had been with Lucas for quite some time, she had never asked about his family. Strictly speaking, this was the first time.

Seeing Megan’s curious expression, Aurora told her about Lucas’ plan to bring her to meet his parents.

Megan gasped, sucking in a sharp breath. “You’re meeting the parents this soon?”

“Is it really that soon?” Aurora had thought it through last night. “If Lucas and you hadn’t hidden his family background from me, I probably would’ve met them long ago.”

Megan gave a sheepish laugh. “Well, that’s true.”

“So the reason I asked about them was because I wanted to know what they like.”

“Right!” Aurora nodded earnestly. “Even though Lucas said I don’t need to bring anything, this will be my first time meeting his parents. If I show up empty-handed, it feels rude. I just think it’s not proper. Even if what I bring isn’t expensive, at least it shows my sincerity.”

Megan rubbed her chin, her eyes turning thoughtful. “You’ve got a point. But honestly, I really don’t know what my aunt and uncle like. But…”

As she spoke, Megan circled around Aurora, her gaze sweeping up and down in appraisal. Finally, she stopped in front of her.

Aurora looked confused. “What is it?”

“I think with the way you carry yourself, you don’t need to bring anything at all. Just standing in front of them will make them happy.” Then, with sudden certainty, Megan clapped her hands. “Yes, exactly! That’s the truth. What more do you need to prepare? You’re already the best gift they could ever receive!"
