“But what if Miss Aurora still doesn’t wake up?”

Ian cleared his throat and explained, “Mr. Carter, I think I’d better head back for now. I can’t be of much help here, and the company still needs someone on site.”

Lucas gave a slight nod. “I’ll stay. That’s enough.”

“Alright then,” Ian quickly expressed his thanks. “I’ll get back to it. We can’t let Miss Aurora’s hard work go to waste.”

Hearing the words “go to waste,” Lucas finally reacted. “I understand. Go handle things.”

Ian had a point. There was no use in everyone staying here doing nothing.

“The company’s going to need you,” Lucas said calmly.

“And for now, don’t let anyone know Aurora’s sick.”

Ian immediately grasped the gravity of the instruction. “Understood. Don’t worry, I won’t say a word.”

It was true—Aurora’s illness couldn’t be made public. Otherwise, chaos would erupt. So many projects were still waiting on her. As long as she remained unconscious, half the operations of Walton Corporation would grind to a halt. Her condition absolutely couldn’t be leaked.

After Ian left, Lucas turned his gaze back to Aurora’s face. Clearly, he couldn’t just sit around and do nothing anymore. Things outside had already gotten far too out of control. If he continued waiting passively, who knew what kind of storm those vultures might stir up next? With Aurora lying here, defenseless, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. He had to stay close. And as for the company—he’d have to find someone reliable to keep an eye on things for her.

Right now, Walton Corporation was like a hollow shell. Grace was unwell, and Aurora’s current condition left everything uncertain. If anyone with ill intent caught wind of what was happening, they’d strike without hesitation. Lucas had already considered that possibility, and there was no way he would just sit back and let it happen.

He looked at Aurora with gentle eyes. “Rora, don’t worry. I’ll protect the company you fought so hard for. I promise you that.”
