“Look, Lucas, I came because I really need a favor.”

“Alright, what is it?”

“Lucas,” she said, lifting her chin. “I was the one who knew you first. So why don’t I get a chance?”

Lucas found that laughable, probably the funniest thing he’d heard all year.

“You really think you can control how I feel?”

Wendy instantly fell silent.

She had once believed she’d be the first woman Lucas would choose.

But now, all she felt was bitter disappointment.

She would never know who actually came first in his heart.

Meanwhile, Kenneth tried to refocus, reminding himself why he came in the first place.

“Lucas, we’re talking about things that happened years ago. Do you really not feel anything at all?”

“Relax, Lucas. The main reason I came today was to talk to you about Wendy.”

Lucas frowned, but before he could respond, Kenneth went on, “And second, I just wanted to ask–what exactly is her illness? I have connections to some top doctors overseas. I can bring someone in to take a look.”
