She was probably just caught up with something.

He had wanted to ask if she needed help with anything, but from the looks of it, Judy had things under control.

Oddly enough, that left him feeling a little empty inside.

There was a time when she used to rely on him for everything.

Now, it felt like she’d completely changed.

Joseph let out a quiet sigh and turned the car around.

It was fine. It wasn’t like they wouldn’t see each other again.

If she was busy now, he could always catch up with her later.

As long as he knew she was safe, that was enough.

Back on Judy’s end, the moment she hung up, Kenneth wrapped his arms around her from behind.

He rested his chin in the crook of her neck, his whole demeanor clinging to her.

“What was that about? Why’d you talk to him for so long?”

His voice was thick with jealousy.

Judy chuckled. “What, are you jealous now?”

The smile on her face made it obvious she was teasing.

Kenneth knew it too.

There was a playful glint in her tone she couldn’t hide.

With a huff, he bit down lightly on her lower lip. “You little brat.”

“Alright, I won’t mess with you anymore. It’s getting late. I should head back soon.”

Though Judy was a little reluctant, she didn’t try to stop him.

They were adults, after all.

There was no need for all that emotional drama that would get in the way.

If she slipped back into her old ways, then what was the point of all that growth?

“Alright, go handle your business,” she said simply.

Judy spoke sensibly, showing no sign of wanting to keep him around.

Kenneth raised a brow, glancing at her with mild surprise. “You’re not even going to try and make me stay?”

He tilted her chin up with a smirk. “You trust me that much?”

Judy leaned into his hand and smiled. “Of course. We’re adults. If I held on too tightly, would you really like that?”

Her calm, easygoing attitude pleased Kenneth.

This was exactly how he liked it–clean, simple, and no drama.

They were just fulfilling each other’s physical needs.

No point complicating things with unnecessary words.

Before leaving, Kenneth pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

Then he got up and headed out to take care of his own matters.

He still had to bring Wendy back–there was no point dragging things out here.

As for Judy, well, it depended on whether he got tired of her or not.

If not, maybe he’d even help her expand her business abroad.

They could have a little fun overseas.

In comparison, things here always felt a little restrictive.
