Chapter 632
Julian didnโt know what to say.
To be honest, watching how powerful Lucas was, he was starting to regret his decision. Was it really the right move to follow Tessa all the way to Millford? If things had gone according to plan, he shouldโve been soaking in the bathtub at Lilyโs villa right about now. In Julianโs point of view, the two of them would be enjoying a sweet little life. In reality, Lily had always been thoroughly disgusted with him. But now that they were already in Millford, going back empty-handed would be a huge loss. If Aurora woke up smoothly, all of Tessaโs effort at Walton Corporation would be completely wasted.
That thought left a bitter taste in Tessaโs mouth. She couldnโt let that happen. โWhatever the case, weโre here now. Thereโs no way weโre just turning around and leaving!โ she told herself with fierce resolve. She turned to look at Julian, her gaze unreadable.
Julian felt a chill crawl up his back under that stare. Something about it unsettled him, though he couldnโt say why. Crossing his arms, he asked nervously, โWhat are you planning?โ
Tessa chuckled and crooked her finger at him. He hesitated at first, but her smile was dangerously captivating, like it had its own charm. He leaned in.
The moment he heard her plan, Julian immediately took two steps back. โAre you insane?โ
Tessa raised a brow. โInsane? Hardly. This world forced me into it. Otherwise, how the hell would I have survived till now? Thatโs simply impossible.โ
Julian frowned, completely unable to wrap his head around it. Tessa didnโt come from a bad family, and Grace treated her wellโso why did her thinking always skew toward something so twisted? She was even a little extreme. It was Tessaโs idea to put Aurora into a coma this time. Heโd only been dragged into it. But the truth was, heโd never had thoughts like that before. Even at the height of his hatred for Aurora, it had never crossed his mind to go that far. What on earth was going on with Tessaโฆ
Tessa looked into Julianโs eyes and saw the unease clouding his expression. Crossing her arms, she said impatiently, โWhat, youโre backing out now? Donโt forget, weโre in this together. If anything goes wrong, youโre not getting out of it either.โ
Seeing his hesitation, Tessa could only resort to threats. If Julian kept wavering, then what was the point of bringing him here in the first place? That wouldโve made everything meaningless. Meeting her threatening gaze, Julian finally pressed his lips into a tight line and gave a hard nod.
Tessa was right. They were in the same boat now. If one of them went down, the other wouldnโt be spared either. They both knew that all too well. The priority now was keeping Aurora from waking up and making sure Tessa kept her position. That was crucial.
โI get it. Donโt worry.โ
Seeing him relent, Tessaโs expression finally eased a little.
