Chapter 54

Given the situation, Isabella couldn't ignore it.

Samuel paused, his eyes fixed on Isabella. He smiled gently and said, "Thank you."

Isabella couldn't help but glance at him sideways. "You're thanking me now? You didn't let me thank you, so it's unfair."

Before Samuel could reply, Isabella turned and headed for the closet.

As Samuel watched her go, he realized that sometimes saying "thank you" wasn't about distance, but genuine gratitude.

At the hospital, Samuel hurried to Isabella's side. In the large, private VIP suite at the top of the hospital, the room was filled with worried people. Sarah lay quietly in bed. Though pale, she was awake.

Noticing Gwenna's worried expression, Sarah gently comforted her. "Mom, I'm okay. I'll feel better in a few days. Don't worry."

Gwenna patted Sarah's arm reassuringly. "Of course, you will." She then gestured toward Rachana, a five-year-old girl standing nearby, as cute as a porcelain doll, with big eyes and chubby cheeks. Rachana looked worriedly at Sarah.

Stepping forward, Rachana took Sarah's hand and, tilting her head, said softly, "Mommy, you'll get better. Then Daddy will take us to the Walt Disney Company to see the princesses."

Seeing Rachana, the usually efficient Sarah softened. She stroked Rachana's head and replied softly, "Okay, Daddy and I will take you to see the princesses."

Rachana nodded obediently. Whitney waved at Rachana. "Rachana, come over here and let your mom rest."

Rachana nodded, ran to Whitney, and hugged his leg, calling him "Daddy." Whitney picked her up and looked at Sarah. His usually composed face was etched with worry; his expensive suit was wrinkled, his jaw stubbled, and his eyes bloodshot. Sarah had never seen him so disheveled.

Sarah lowered her eyes, a mix of emotions stirring within her. If not for this illness, she might never have known the depth of Whitney's care.

Hoy, who had been silent, looked around the room and said in a deep voice, "Alright, everyone should go home. There's no use staying here." He turned to Whitney. "Whitney, go home and rest. We'll manage things here."

Even strong Whitney couldn't endure the past few days. Gwenna looked at him with concern. "Don't forget you still have Rachana to take care of."

Rachana wrapped her arms around Whitney's neck, leaning obediently against him.

Whitney shook his head. "It's okay. Lily will take care of Rachana."

Seeing her words had no effect, Gwenna sighed inwardly, deciding to say no more.

Chapter 54 (continued)

A knock on the hospital room door drew everyone's attention. Samuel pushed it open and entered, Isabella behind him. Everyone was amazed to see her.

Isabella, surprised by the number of people present, quickly composed herself, stepped forward politely, and greeted, "Hello, Mr. Howerton."

Hoy, visibly upset, didn't respond. Isabella, unfazed, turned to Gwenna. "Hello, Mrs. Howerton." Her smile was gentle yet gracious.

Gwenna, surprised but realizing Isabella still wanted to see Sarah, smiled. Isabella is a good girl, she thought. "Bella's here. Come in and have a seat."

Sarah frowned, looking at Isabella with displeasure. "What are you doing here?"

Isabella's arrival was clearly unwelcome. Gwenna glanced at Sarah, sensing tension, but unable to scold her, whispered gently, "Sarah, calm down."

Samuel stepped forward and took Isabella's hand, surprising her. (The story ends abruptly here.)
