Chapter 151

"Ms. Jones, what do you want from me?" Cameron asked Laura indifferently from the roadside.

Her eyes dimmed at his cold, unfamiliar tone. She offered a slightly bitter smile. "Cameron, we don't have to be strangers."

"Ms. Jones, if you have something to say, say it. I'm busy," he replied, taking a breath. Strangely, he found it difficult to remain calm around Laura, especially now that he knew she possessed their photograph. He could only affect indifference to distance himself.

Feeling a slight tingle in her heart, she inhaled deeply and said softly, "Cameron, let's talk in the car. I want to take you somewhere."

"No need. Say it here," Cameron refused. He wanted nothing more to do with her.

"Cameron, I have something to tell you. Please, get in the car," Laura pleaded, biting her lip. She wanted to take him somewhere to explain many things, and to avoid undue influence, she had even left Peggy behind.

Looking into Laura's eyes, Cameron sighed. He couldn't stand women looking at him like that, especially Laura. Still, he said firmly, "Ms. Jones, I have no time."

Laura remained silent, only biting her lip harder. Resentment and pleading warred in her eyes.

Damn it! Cameron thought, finally surrendering. "Alright, alright. Don't look at me like that. I'll get in the car."

"Okay!" Laura's pleased response was followed by Cameron shaking his head and preparing to enter the car.

Just then, a loud sound erupted from the intersection. A green pickup truck, bearing a military license plate, sped towards them. Both Laura and Cameron turned to look.

"Isn't that Colonel Bailey's truck?" Cameron asked, puzzled.

The military truck bore down on him like a savage beast. He wondered if Lena had an urgent matter. Before he could process his thoughts, the truck screeched to a halt behind the black Lincoln. The door opened, and Lena, in camouflage uniform, leaped out.

"Hello, Colonel Bailey," Cameron greeted with a smile.

"Cameron Morgan! I finally found you!" Lena's murderous glare contradicted his greeting. She had mobilized extensive surveillance to locate him.

"Hmm?" Cameron raised an eyebrow, confused. He had saved her the previous night; her reaction was baffling.

"You bastard!" Lena was close to slapping him, or even shooting him. But she wouldn't let him off so easily; she wanted revenge for his violation of her.

"Colonel Bailey, what's wrong?" Cameron asked, bewildered. He hadn't offended her.

"I'm taking you to the military region!" Lena declared, cuffing him.

Cameron was stunned. "Colonel Bailey, what are you doing?"

"Shut up!" she snarled, her murderous intent unmistakable.

Cameron frowned, suspecting a misunderstanding. "Ms. Jones, I'll go with Colonel Bailey. I'll contact you later."

He got into the truck with Lena. She snorted coldly, accelerated, and sped away, eager for revenge.

Seeing Lena's murderous expression, Laura understood the gravity of the situation.

"Perez, follow them," she said coldly. "And forget what you just heard."

"Yes, Ms. Jones!" Perez replied, his heart pounding. Laura had returned to her usual demeanor.
