Chapter 152
A military pickup truck and a black Lincoln left the Global International Building in succession. Four people across the street witnessed the scene.
Archie immediately declared, "I know what happened!"
"What is it?" the Parkers asked curiously.
"Simple," Archie said gloatingly. "Ms. Jones came to see Cameron, not because she knows him, but because her case may involve him."
Archie squinted. "You should have seen Colonel Bailey cuffing him. He must have committed a serious crime, and Ms. Jones contacted Colonel Bailey to have him arrested!"
"Dear, I think you're right!" Madison agreed, after hearing his analysis. "I did see Colonel Bailey cuff him angrily! His crime must be so serious that Mr. Kane can't bail him out again!"
Archie felt a mixture of relief and anger. He was glad it was a false alarm, but furious that Cameron had scared him.
"That's right! How could that moocher know Ms. Jones?" Madison snorted, dismissing her regret. She believed Cameron, a moocher in the Parker family for five years, had no legitimate connection to Laura.
Pia felt instant relief.
"That bastard frightened us!" Skyler exclaimed angrily.
Feeling reassured by their deduction, they relaxed.
Meanwhile, the military pickup truck arrived at the nearby Yrando Military Region. Lena, having made prior arrangements, took Cameron to an interrogation room and seated him in the cold interrogation chair.
Cameron noticed the cameras were off, realizing Lena had arranged for their deactivation. He wondered if she intended to frame him, though he couldn't recall any conflict with her.
Surprised, he asked, "Colonel Bailey, I don't seem to have offended you, right?"
"Shut up!" Lena snapped. His voice enraged her.
Slamming the door, she switched on the interrogation lamp, shining its harsh light on Cameron. The sudden glare hurt his eyes and angered him. He had saved Lena; why was she retaliating?
After his eyes adjusted, he asked, "Colonel Bailey, what do you want? I saved you. Why are you doing this?"
Her eyes widened. "You saved me? Don't you think you're shameless to say that?" She regretted not shooting him last night.
"Yes, I saved you. Is there anything wrong?" Cameron frowned at her reaction.
Lena, however, saw it as provocation. Enraged, she knocked the lamp to the floor, grabbed his collar, and roared, "You lustful bastard! Do you dare to repeat yourself?"
