After entering the waterfront, Cameron headed straight for the hotel. The area bustled with construction workers. He assumed Laura was inside one of the hotels. At the first hotel tower, he found the ground floor filled with staff renovating the lobby. He casually approached a staff member to inquire about Laura. He learned that Laura wasn't there, but in the adjacent building.
Thanking the staff member, Cameron proceeded to the second hotel. Unlike the first, this building showed no signs of renovation. The hotel lobby was deserted. Cameron entered, deciding it was futile to search thirty floors for Laura. He would wait in the lobby. However, just as he was about to find a seat, he froze. A chill of danger swept over him.
The feeling vanished as quickly as it appeared, but Cameron was certain: a skilled assassin was nearby. He wondered if the assassin was after Laura. Recalling the previous attack, he believed the assassin wouldn't give up after failing once. Laura must be the target.
Immediately, Cameron set out to find the assassin. The ominous feeling seemed to emanate from the far end of the hotel. He walked deeper into the lobby.
At the far end were the staff changing rooms. The assassin's trace vanished there. With a solemn expression, Cameron entered the men's changing room and checked each cubicle. Since Laura had reserved the entire tower, all other staff were on leave. The changing rooms were empty. He found nothing.
He exited and went to the women's changing room. The assassin could be hiding inside. To avoid alerting anyone, Cameron held his breath and approached silently.
The situation mirrored the men's room. All doors were open except one at the very end, slightly ajar. Someone was inside, perhaps the assassin.
With sharp eyes, Cameron crept toward the cubicle. He curled his fingers, preparing for combat. He reached the cubicle and peered through the gap.
He expected to see the assassin. Instead, he saw a pair of exceptionally slender legs. The woman was slightly bent over, her long black hair cascading down and partially hiding her face. She held a black stocking, skillfully stretching and pulling it onto her foot.
Cameron was stunned. He never expected to witness such a scene. The woman was fully focused, oblivious to his presence.
Chapter 175
She slowly pulled up the stockings. Her gaze gradually lifted until it met his. She then flicked her hair away from her face, revealing a charming visage.
It was Peggy!
Cameron was taken aback. He wondered why she was changing her stockings in the changing room. While Cameron puzzled over Peggy's unusual behavior, Peggy, having finished putting on her stockings and about to put on her shoes, suddenly furrowed her brows.
Her intuition told her she was being watched. She glanced toward the slightly open door. Indeed, she saw a pair of eyes staring intently at her.
