Chapter 244

A hush fell over the ward as Cameron's words echoed. Everyone was taken aback. He spoke with such authority, hitting the nail on the head with each sentence and employing numerous technical terms. It was as if he countered expertise with expertise.

Mikel's gaze flickered; his complexion soured. Cameron had been completely accurate. Mikel, relying on over a decade of clinical experience, had believed such a misdiagnosis impossible, especially since the patient was Tara's grandfather. He'd eagerly used this opportunity to get closer to Tara, almost wishing Dylan had cancer. After a brief clinical diagnosis and some imaging analysis, he'd concluded it was cancer.

However, according to Cameron, Dylan suffered from nodular hyperplasia caused by liver toxicity—a condition often misdiagnosed as cancer. If Cameron were correct, Mikel's lifelong reputation would be tarnished.

"So, everything Cameron said is true?" Tara's eyes blazed with anger as she turned to Mikel. She had trusted him implicitly, yet he seemed to disregard her grandfather's life.

Mikel's lips trembled. He stammered, "Dr. Smith, that's not true! Don't listen to that kid's nonsense. I was very serious when diagnosing your grandfather!"

"So your idea of 'serious' is making a diagnosis without even conducting an enhanced CT scan or hemodialysis?" Tara's eyes were cold. "Is this how a cancer specialist is supposed to act?"

Mikel was speechless.

"Mr. Kennedy," Tara declared fiercely, "if my grandfather was misdiagnosed due to your negligence, I will hold you accountable!"

Turning to Cameron, her tone softened. "Cameron, my grandfather really doesn't have liver cancer, does he?" She wasn't an oncology expert; her knowledge came from professional doctors' conclusions.

"No," Cameron affirmed.

"Then why did the traditional liver cancer remedies I used seem to alleviate his symptoms?" Tara was puzzled.

"Because ingredients like Prunella vulgaris and Cassia seed cool the liver and detoxify," Cameron explained. "But your grandfather's liver toxicity is severe. Those herbs alone wouldn't have much effect. The misdiagnosis worsened his condition, rendering the slight medicinal effects insignificant."

He added, "Dr. Smith, if you're unconvinced, an enhanced CT scan and hemodialysis will confirm the diagnosis." [Remove the marketing sentence here]

"I believe you, Cameron!" Tara's eyes shone. "Can you cure my grandfather?"

"A full treatment might take a month. But after acupuncture, your grandfather should wake up."

"Wonderful! Please start immediately!" Tara was thrilled. She had despaired many times.

Cameron nodded, produced his silver needles, and prepared to perform bloodletting.

"Stop!" Mikel shouted. "This is outrageous! Do you think this hospital is your private clinic? And those needles? Are you treating him or trying to kill him? Security! Get him out of here!"

Whether Cameron's diagnosis was correct or not, Mikel's reputation would be ruined if Cameron cured Dylan. He couldn't allow Cameron to treat the patient or Tara to get an enhanced CT scan. If sacrificing a patient or two saved his reputation, so be it.
