Chapter 263
Inside the villa, the 80th birthday celebration for Max Zimmer was in full swing. Guests raised their glasses, toasting the patriarch.
“Mr. Zimmer Senior, may you enjoy bountiful blessings!” they exclaimed.
Max beamed. Glancing at the empty seat beside him, he chuckled and asked his eldest son, Chad, “Where’s Kelvin? Why hasn’t my cherished grandson arrived?”
Chad grinned, tailoring his response to please his father. “Dad, Kelvin’s on a date. He’s eager to give you a great-grandchild soon, so he’s thinking of marrying quickly.”
In truth, Kelvin had completely forgotten his grandfather’s birthday and was unreachable. His whereabouts were unknown.
Max laughed, pleased. “Tell Kelvin that once he has a child, I’ll gift him a company!”
“Thank you, Dad. I’ll let him know immediately!” Chad’s eyes lit up. Envy flickered in the eyes of other family members.
Suddenly, two security guards burst into the villa, disrupting the festivities. “Mr. Zimmer Senior, there’s trouble!” they announced.
Max frowned, displeased. “What’s the matter?”
“A young man has barged in!” the guards exclaimed fearfully.
“Useless fools! You can’t even stop one person!” Max scolded, clearly irritated. “Get out!”
The guards hurried away. Silence fell over the hall. All eyes turned to the entrance, focusing on the young intruder.
Cameron’s gaze was intense. He confronted Max. “Are you Max?”
“I am,” Max confirmed. He wanted to appear generous to his guests, so he momentarily suppressed his anger and laughed. “They say every guest brings joy. If you, young friend, are here to wish me well on my birthday, you’re welcome, even without an invitation.”
“Well said, Mr. Zimmer Senior,” the guests flattered him, eager to ingratiate themselves with the Zimmer family.
Cameron sneered.
Max’s tone darkened, sensing Cameron’s defiance. “Are you here to cause trouble?”
“What do you think?” Cameron responded coldly, scanning the Zimmer family. He suspected one of them might have been involved in his mother’s death.
Chad defended his father. “How dare you disrespect my father!”
Duncan Zimmer, the second son, narrowed his eyes. His tone was serious. “Who do you think you are? My father’s kindness is not a sign of weakness.”
The Zimmer family believed they could easily crush someone like Cameron.
