Chapter 38

Caspian’s mouth twitched. This was the first time he’d heard anyone address Timothy like that. Moreover, he actually wanted Timothy to explain himself?

“Kid, who do you think you are? You want my boss to explain himself?” Caspian’s face darkened as he stared at Cameron. Did this guy really think he was special just because he possessed some brute strength?

“Dakota, is that your boyfriend?” Madison’s other friends chimed in, voicing their opinions about Cameron.

“Is something wrong with your boyfriend’s brain? Asking Mr. Dashner for an explanation? Is he trying to get us all killed?”

“Yeah! If he wants to die, he should just say so and not involve us!”

“He’s so disgusting. He’s acting tough and injuring people even though he’s powerless!”

“Dakota, make your boyfriend apologize to Lord Caspian. Do whatever it takes to resolve this, even if you have to… sleep with him. Just don’t drag us into it!”

Dakota was speechless and infuriated. How could they be so selfish? Cameron was clearly helping them, yet somehow, it had become his fault.

“I’m dragging you into this?” Cameron raised an eyebrow, amused. Didn’t they realize that even if he hadn’t spoken, Caspian had no intention of letting them go? Moreover, wasn’t this whole scheme orchestrated by Madison?

“Isn’t this your fault?”

That sentence further angered the girls.

“Yeah, aren’t you the one causing harm?”

“You’re just a lowly migrant worker, pretending to be something you’re not!”

“Dakota, seriously, when did your taste become so poor?”

Cameron wasn’t wearing designer clothes; in their eyes, he was indistinguishable from a migrant worker.

“Stephanie, Stella, that’s enough!” Dakota, fed up, defended Cameron.

“What’s with your attitude, Dakota? If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be in this situation!” Her friends blamed Dakota for the mess.

“You…” Dakota began, but Cameron interrupted.

“Dakota, don’t bother with them. Some people just don’t know their place,” Cameron said calmly.

“Hey, what do you mean by that?”

“Who are you calling ignorant?”

“You brat, explain yourself!” The girls protested.

Cameron ignored them and sat on a couch, closing his eyes and waiting for Timothy. [Remove the website plug]

Seeing the conflict shift, Madison smirked.

Meanwhile, at a luxurious golf course in the capital, Timothy, in a suit and sunglasses, swung a golf club, sending the ball soaring.

“Boss, you have a call!” a subordinate said, handing him the phone.

“Who is it?” Timothy stopped, puffing his cigar.

“It’s your subordinate, Lord Caspian.”

“Caspian?” Timothy frowned. “What does he want?”

“Boss, what happened was…”

“No way! Someone dared to lay a hand on my men?” Timothy slammed his hand on the table, furious. “Who did this?”

“It’s someone named Cameron.”

“Cameron?” Timothy’s heart trembled; terrifying memories flooded his mind.

Ten years ago, Timothy led a mercenary group in the Midlands, sweeping the battlefield. Just as he believed he was invincible, he offended a terrifying Dark Lord—someone he couldn’t afford to provoke. The Dark Lord had a cloaked henchman. Timothy, mistaking them for businessmen, attempted extortion. This act led to the complete destruction of his mercenary organization.

With a phone call, the Dark Lord summoned fighter jets and special forces, overwhelming the city. His invincible team was wiped out instantly. Only the Dark Lord’s nationality spared Timothy from the artillery fire.

He returned home, founding the Dark Path Gang, which evolved into the notorious Black Dragon Group. He was the kingpin in the capital. Yet, the specter of the Dark Lord remained a haunting nightmare.

The Dark Lord’s name—Cameron—was the same as the person mentioned on the phone. Timothy dismissed it as a coincidence. How could the Dark Lord be in a small place like Yrando?

Suppressing his fear, Timothy regained his composure. “Take me to him!”
