Chapter 49
“Those two? They’ve left, Lord Caspian,” Archie responded nonchalantly.
“They left?” Caspian paused. “When?”
He had come specifically to apologize to Cameron and Dakota. Timothy had even warned him not to mess it up. But now that they had left, Timothy would surely be furious!
Feeling cold sweat breaking out on his back, Caspian turned around, preparing to rush out and find them.
Unaware of the situation, Archie naively believed Caspian was merely inquiring casually. He smiled. “Lord Caspian, why are you worrying over those two nobodies? We’re still here.”
“He’s right, Lord Caspian. Please, have a seat,” Madison said, stepping forward and pulling out a chair.
Caspian’s face fell at Archie and Madison’s words. He sucked in a deep breath as his face darkened. “Did you chase them out?”
“Not exactly. They left willingly,” Madison answered indifferently.
“They left willingly?” Caspian frowned. “Why would they leave so suddenly?”
Madison saw this as an opportunity to complain about Cameron. “Lord Caspian, Cameron kept acting tough earlier. He said Mr. Dashner threw the banquet solely for him! He even had the audacity to say the banquet wouldn’t happen without him. You should have seen how arrogant he was! You can ask the others if you don’t believe me.”
She hurriedly glanced at her friends, who quickly added to her accusations.
“Madison’s right! Those two were incredibly rude!”
“Not only did Cameron claim the banquet was for him, he even told us to leave!”
“He showed no respect for you or Mr. Dashner!”
Caspian’s expression soured. He suspected what had happened. Madison and her friends had likely driven Cameron and Dakota away.
He knew Cameron’s real identity from Timothy—someone far beyond his own social standing. Cameron could easily destroy Caspian and Timothy. How could Cameron insult someone like him, then? Clearly, those present had chased Cameron and Dakota away!
Caspian gritted his teeth. He wanted to punish those in the room.
However, Madison and her friends believed Caspian was furious because of Cameron’s insult, encouraging them to continue.
“There’s more, Lord Caspian!”
“Ignore them, Lord Caspian. They’re just ignorant fools! How dare they insult you and Mr. Dashner? Let them go. We don’t need them to ruin the banquet.”
“That’s true. Now that those troublemakers are gone, let’s start the banquet.”
“By the way, do you know when Mr. Dashner will be arriving, Lord Caspian?”
“Shut up!” Caspian roared.
His yell silenced the room. In the ensuing silence, Caspian’s furious shouts continued, “You all must want to die! I order you to beg Mr. Morgan and Ms. Jennings to return! If they refuse, I’ll have your heads!”
