Chapter 50
The room fell silent, everyone staring dumbfoundedly at Caspian.
"Are you deaf? I'm asking you to beg Mr. Morgan and Ms. Jennings to come back!" Caspian roared, seeing their frozen expressions.
They finally reacted. Madison stared, shocked. "Are you sure, Lord Caspian? Didn't Mr. Dashner throw this banquet because he was a friend of my boyfriend's father, and wanted to make amends to me?"
Caspian's anger flared. "Who the hell is your boyfriend? Why would Timothy throw a banquet for him?"
Madison was shocked; Archie flushed crimson. Her friends were equally stunned. The banquet had nothing to do with Archie's father?
"Damn it! Why are you still standing there? Did you not hear me?" Caspian kicked Archie hard. If his arms weren't broken, he would have slapped them all. How dare they chase Cameron and Dakota away!
Archie fell, but dared not moan under Caspian's fury. He scrambled up, stammering, "Please calm down, Lord Caspian! We we'll bring them back now!"
"Hurry!" Caspian roared.
Archie's heart sank. He pulled Madison from the private room. Stella and the others, shivering under Caspian's glare, followed.
Meanwhile, Cameron and Dakota reached the lobby.
"Cameron, will Mr. Dashner be angry if we leave without telling him?" Dakota asked worriedly.
Cameron grinned. "Him? Angry at us? I'll beat him up if he is."
Dakota knew he was teasing. "I'm serious!"
Cameron chuckled. "Don't worry. Not only would he not be angry, he'd probably ask Madison to beg us to return."
Dakota hesitated. "Really?"
"Look! Here they come," Cameron said, amused.
Dakota saw Archie and Madison running toward them.
"Cameron! Dakota! So, we meet again!" Archie approached, offering an awkward smile.
Cameron gave him an indifferent look. "Do you need something, Mr. Price?"
Archie choked. "I was just thinking there's no need to get worked up. Let's go back and enjoy the banquet." This was a blow to his pride. He was Archie Price, begging a nobody.
Cameron smiled. "Are you begging us to return, Mr. Price?"
Archie swallowed.
Before he could reply, Madison interjected, "We came to invite you back! Must you cause trouble?"
Cameron laughed. "Me? Causing trouble? Wasn't it you causing trouble earlier?"
Madison frowned. "Cameron Morgan, is that how a gentleman behaves? Didn't we come to invite you back?" They'd already humbled themselves; the least Cameron could do was return with them.
Cameron smiled. "So, are you begging us to return? Let's go, Dakota."
He started to leave.
"Stand right there, Cameron!"
