Chapter 87

"Captain Louis, why are you here?" Sergeant Tommy was surprised to see Captain Louis in the interrogation room, drenched in sweat.

"You bastard, how dare you arrest people indiscriminately? Release him immediately!" Captain Louis angrily berated Sergeant Tommy.

Sergeant Tommy leaned closer and whispered, "Captain Louis, I didn't arrest him. It was Sergeant David's instruction. He said this man offended Mr. Price and asked us to 'take good care of him.'"

"Don't talk to me about Sergeant David's nonsense! Release him now!" Captain Louis shouted. He didn't care about Sergeant David or Archie; he'd just received several calls from his superiors.

The first was from the Director. Initially, he thought the Director was calling to commend him, but the Director was furious, demanding to know if they'd arrested a young man named Cameron. He was told to release Cameron immediately or lose his job.

Then, immediately after hanging up, the Commissioner called, followed by the Mayor! Their demands were clear: failure to handle this appropriately would cost him his job and lead to criminal prosecution.

Terrified, he rushed to the interrogation room. Sergeant David and Archie were inconsequential now.

"But Captain Louis…" Sergeant Tommy began.

"But what? Shut up! I told you to release him immediately!" Captain Louis erupted, kicking Sergeant Tommy hard in the buttocks.

Caught off guard, Sergeant Tommy fell. Seeing Captain Louis, usually indifferent to such matters, so enraged, he realized the gravity of the situation. He quickly stood, smiled at Cameron, and apologized. "Mr. Morgan, I'm sorry. I made a mistake. I'll release you now. Please forget about it."

"You made a mistake?" Cameron raised an eyebrow, looking coldly at Sergeant Tommy. "Weren't you planning to force me into signing a confession? How did it suddenly become your mistake?"

Sergeant Tommy's smile froze. "It's it's a misunderstanding, Mr. Morgan."

"A misunderstanding? I don't think so," Cameron said, then looked coldly at Captain Louis. "Is this the kind of subordinate you have?"

Under Cameron's icy stare, Captain Louis trembled and bowed. "I'm sorry, Mr. Morgan. It's my negligence. I'll teach him a lesson."

"Next time?" Cameron's face darkened.

"No, there will be no next time! I'll dismiss him immediately!" Captain Louis's face was stiff, sweat pouring down his face.

"It wasn't me, Captain Louis. Sergeant David ordered the arrest!" Sergeant Tommy protested, upset at the prospect of dismissal.

"Then both of you are dismissed!" Captain Louis shouted. These two had almost cost him his life.

He would report the situation truthfully to the Director; otherwise, he'd face repercussions from the Director, Commissioner, and Mayor. Who was Mr. Morgan, and why did his arrest alarm so many high-ranking officials? He learned Ms. Jones from Leving had personally called the Commissioner to demand Cameron's release.
