Chapter 89

"Laura, why are you here?" Cameron asked coldly.

Laura, seemingly expecting his attitude, showed no annoyance. Her eyes held a tender expression.

"Cameron, I saw you arrested at the airport. I asked Perez, the driver, to follow you."

"I'm sorry, but I don't need your kindness," Cameron said, his tone hardening.

"But you're here. That means you still have feelings for me, right?" Laura's voice softened in the face of his coldness.

"No, you've misunderstood. I didn't come for you," Cameron replied indifferently.

"That's okay. As long as you were there," Laura said, her eyes icy yet hinting at gentleness.

Cameron sighed. "Are you finished? I'll go if you are," he said coldly.

"Wait, Cameron!" Laura stopped him. "I have more to say. Let's get in the car first."

"No need," Cameron refused.

"Cameron, I know you hate me. I came to Yrando for you. Please give me a chance to make amends. I'll only be here for half a month. I won't bother you long." A trace of sadness flickered in her cold, beautiful eyes. It wasn't that she didn't want to stay longer; she couldn't. Half a month later, she would be…

Cameron interrupted her cold words: "Thank you for your kindness, Ms. Jones. But I don't need your amends."

Laura looked at his icy expression. Once, those dark eyes held love; now, only indifference and coldness remained. A pang of bitterness pierced her heart. She longed to return to seven years ago, but knew it was impossible. That beautiful memory would forever remain.

"Well, Ms. Jones, I'm going back. Please don't waste your time on a loser like me. Return to Leving and live your life."

Cameron started to leave.

"Cameron, don't go!" Laura called out anxiously.

"Hey, you! What's your attitude towards Ms. Jones? Do you know the pressure she's under to come to Yrando for you?" Peggy, who had been listening, finally spoke, reprimanding Cameron.

"I don't know. And I didn't ask her to come," Cameron said indifferently.

"You!" Peggy was enraged. "If I'd known, I wouldn't have let Ms. Jones help you. It would have been better to keep you locked up!"

"She helped me?" Cameron frowned.

"Do you think you'd have gotten out so easily without her?" Peggy asked contemptuously.

Cameron shook his head silently.

"What? You don't have anything to say?" Peggy sneered.

"That's enough, Peggy," Laura's cold voice cut through.

"Yes, Ms. Jones," Peggy glared at Cameron before restraining herself. (It was all because of this jerk that she'd been scolded!)

Cameron ignored her and left.

Laura opened the car door and chased after him. "Ms. Jones, what do you want?" Cameron stopped, annoyed.

"Cameron, please get in the car. I have something to say," Laura pleaded softly, looking aggrieved.

Cameron sighed. He couldn't bear to see a woman act like this.
